Unverified social media footage shows Taliban fighters attacking Afghan govt forces in the city of Taloqan, bordering Tajikistan – 1 of 3 provincial capitals currently under attack from the militants.
Having conquered rural areas of Afghanistan, the Taliban are now focusing on recapturing the last few major cities - in order to take control of the country after a mass withdrawal of foreign forces.
The Taliban have reportedly executed some 900 people in 6 weeks in just 1 province as they overran Kandahar on the Pakistan border, according to a police chief. The Taliban has denied claims of executions. (Daily Mail)
