JUST IN - Berlin state election of 2021, which was plagued by mishaps, was not valid and must be redone, the State Constitutional Court has ruled.
Citizens had to queue for hours in front of the polling stations. Many polling stations needed more ballots or ballot boxes. Many voters could only vote after the official closing time at 6 pm.
How are elections conducted in Germany?
— paper ballots only, no machines
— mail-in ballots only on request
— photo-id (passport or ID card) required to vote
— ballots are hand-counted
— result on election night
