Freak weather hit the city of Grossheide in Germany’s northwestern Lower Saxony state on Monday evening tearing roofs from homes, overturning vehicles and uprooting trees as locals fled for safety, video shows.
German media reports the twister was between several dozen and a hundred meters in diameter and was devastating the area at speeds up to 250 kilometers per hour.
It’s the most recent shocking weather event to smash Germany in recent weeks, after floods battered the west of the country last month taking nearly 200 lives.
