New ICE data-mining tool ALARMS unions & Sen Wyden - targets unauthorized workers
Senator Ron Wyden has raised the alarm over RAVEn, a powerful new data-mining tool being developed by ICE to clamp down on unauthorized workers.
"I'm particularly concerned about the way ICE is buying its way around the Fourth Amendment," Wyden commented.
Representatives from over 200 companies including Google, Amazon and Microsoft attended a RAVEn industry day in April looking for more details on three government contracts worth a reported $300mn.
The system has allegedly already been used, but it is unclear which companies have or plan to bid on the lucrative tenders.

US Cardinal Denies Sexually Assaulting Boy at Wedding
Former Catholic Cardinal Theodore McCarrick has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy during a wedding reception in Massachusetts - almost 50 years ago!
McCarrick faces three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, according to court documents.
Pope Francis expelled McCarrick from the Church in 2019 after an internal investigation determined he sexually abused children and also adults.
McCarrick, who now lives in Dittmer, Missouri, faces three counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14, according to court documents. The clock has been stopped on the statute of limitations, because he was not a Massachusetts resident and had left the state.
