🇹🇷 ANKARA: Turkey’s cryptocurrency market has seen its first large-scale fraud case after the founder of cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, Faruk Fatih Ozer, fled the country with about $2 billion, leaving more than 391,000 users defrauded.
🔴 The fraud case is the largest in Turkish history, and coincided with an overnight decision by the Central Bank of Turkey to ban the use of digital currencies and assets to pay for goods and services from April 30.
🇦🇱 Ozer reportedly escaped to Albania. In collaboration with Turkish authorities, Interpol has issued a red notice for the
fugitive wanted for prosecution.
🟠 This is another blow to Turkey’s financial stability considering that
Turkey ranked first in Europe
for cryptocurrency adoption by the population and between 16 and 20 percent of Turks used or owned cryptocurrencies last year.

The Roman Agora was built in the 1st century BC, when Athens had already become part of the Roman Empire, as the new commercial center. The new agora was smaller than the Ancient Agora, and had a purely commercial character. It consisted of a large open space bordered on all four sides by colonnades with Ionic columns. Inside the colonnades were stores.
The tower in the second picture is the Tower of the Winds and was one of the world’s first clock towers. It was built around 50 BC, and designed by Greek astronomer Andronicus of Cyrrhus. An enormous water clock was housed inside, fed every 24hrs by a stream running down from the Acropolis. As the water level rose, a float rose, powering a mechanism that showed the progress of the sun across the sky. The lines of sundials can still be seen on the walls, as another way of telling the time (so long as the sun was shining). A bronze figure of Triton was placed on top as a weather-vane.
