🔴 The Turkish Government made statements threatening UN presence in Cyprus and also against the Security Council's resolutions
>https://archive.is/BAdEE

📰 Article
[...]
🔸 Erdogan: the extension of the Peacekeepers mandate is contrary to UN rules and principles. He asked the UN to "correct the situation" (UN objection to the reopening of Varosia) and come to terms with the principles of the "northern cyprus" administration as soon as possible so that the presence of the UN Peacekeeping forces in Occupied Cyprus are not disputed

🔸 The Turkish government also said that the statements by the UN Security Council are unrealistic and have no value to them and that they should focus on finding a solution instead of maintaining the current position

‼️ "There will never be fair, lasting and viable solution of the occupation in Cyprus if the UN Security council regards the Republic of Cyprus as the sole legitimate government of the island"

🔴 The "presidency of northern cyprus" said there is no question of transferring Varosia to Cyprus' and that the city will no longer be a prisoner of the "Cyprus issue" (diplomatic negotiation to end the illegal Turkish Occupation of Cyprus)

🔸 The "presidency" of occupied cyprus claimed in a written statement that the opening of Varosia "is in the direction of protection and restoration of rights", that "there can be no question of transferring to any other administration the closed parts of Varosia, which is territory of occupied cyprus, which will become a part of life, free from being a prisoner of the Cyprus problem"

🔸 They also said that the pseudo-state ruled that the Real Estate Commission, "recognized as an effective remedy by the European Court of Human Rights", would be able to rule on all three remedies, namely compensation, exchange and return (in exchange for recognizing their administration as legitimate)

🔴 EU Council calls Turkey's open violation of international law with the reopening of Varosia as an "unfortunate action"

🔸 "Such unilateral action is unfortunate, as it contradicts the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, which are fully recognized by the Council of Europe. We demand the reversal of this decision. The dialogue between the two communities must continue" - Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić

🔸 At the same time, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe hopes that the UN Security Council Presidential Declarationon Varosia will contribute to the resumption of talks. "The Council of Europe stands ready to support efforts under this auspices of the United Nations. The human rights of all Cypriots must be fully respected on the basis of the relevant UN resolutions and in accordance with the guarantees provided by the European Convention on Human Rights"

🔴 Video from Turkey shows a large number of illegal immigrants, reportedly over 1400 of them. Reports state that they had been caught in Van and deported to back Iran (informally) without any sort of control and crossed the border back to Turkey a few hours later
>https://archive.is/cGPbD

/GBG/
🟢 The video seems to have been recorded around 10 to 12 days ago (july 19-17) and the number of illegal immigrants deported according to reports is of 1456 according to a statement of Van's Governor

🟢 The "deportation" seems to have been simply to bus the illegals back through the Iranian border (where they crossed from) and leave them there

🔴 During the last few days Constantinople has been full of Afghans roaming the streets, some even wearing clothes with camouflage, reinforcing the idea that the wave of immigrants who were crossing Turkey's eastern borders have reached western Turkey

🟢 The videos in question show mostly young people, the adults would probably not be celebrating out in the open, but the cammo clothing could signal that they would go from Constantinople to a border area in Thrace, most likely Evros

The Macedonian tomb of Agios Athanasios, 325-300 BC

The frescoes’ styles combine the Doric and Ionic decorations and the tomb’s pediment shows a golden sun-disk between the two griffins facing each other. It’s also possible to see, just below the pediment, the stunning Ionian frieze.

The frieze depicts a “symposium” scene where 6 men (of which some a bearded while someone else are shown as beardless) are reclining on “triclinia” with some amazing examples of colourful textiles. The first man is shown with a raising arm, asking a female flautist to start playing some music. The banquet is full of fruits and vegetables displayed on three different tables near the “triclinia”.

On the entrance sides the archaeologists also found two men figures standing. Also we see the traditional Macedonian clothes and the famous Macedonian spear: the sarissa (σάρισα) introduced in the army by Philip II of Macedon. @GreekLeague

🔴 FRONTEX and the Greek Coast Guard rescued illegal immigrants who were on a shipwreck in Turkish Territorial waters because the Turkish coast guard did not act, three illegals are still missing
>https://archive.is/z1A5i

📰 Article
[...]
🔸 An "unusual" incident took place on Friday morning (30/07), in the sea area between Lesvos and Turkish beaches, with a shipwreck of illegal immigrants from which three people are still missing

🔸 The rescue operation, which is underway, involves Coast Guard and Frontex vessels, a Super Puma helicopter and aircraft, as well as an additional ship. In fact, according to the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Notis Mitarakis, the Greek Coast Guard was forced to act in Turkish territorial waters to save the illegal immigrants found at sea and this is because the Turkish authorities did not act despite the fact that the shipwreck occurred in their jurisdiction

🔴 Mayor of Kalymnos fined 50 000 Euros by the court of auditors of Greece for using state funds to pay for the fuel used by the shepherd of Imia to attend to his sheep on the island
>https://archive.is/dwfH1

📰 Article
[...]
🔸 Until 2002, the shepherd Antonis Vezyropoulos, who recently passed away at 94, received through the municipal council of Kalymnos the amount of 6,000 euros per year, in order to cover the fuel costs of his boat, since he went daily from the port of Kalymnos to the islet of Imia. The shepherd stopped going to Imia after 2004, since he no longer had the financial support of the municipality of Kalymnos and the other costs also piled up

🔸 Vezyropoulos was constantly harassed by the Turkish Coast Guard and military as the Turks contest the ownership of Imia, but he said he ignored them and pretended that they did not exist despite the numerous threats. The mayor of Kalymnos is said o have paid for the shepherd's fuel improperly and wants restitution with interest
