🔴 A 2000 year old glass mosaic, found in the city of Zeugma, Turkey

🖼 The mosaic is about 2200 years old and depicts the Nine Muses of Greek arts and sciences, who are said to have inspired all who engaged in those endeavors

🔸 The city of Zeugma was founded by Greeks in the 3rd century BC, it was considered a city of great importance by the romans due to its strategic location

🔸 Zeugma was destroyed by the Sassanids in 253 AD and later rebuilt. In late antiquity, Zeugma was a diocese, but it seems to have been abandoned in the 7th century due to Persian and Arab raids, Arabs also seem to have lived there temporarily in the Middle Ages

🔸 "[...] We hope that the problems related to the distribution of maritime jurisdiction will be resolved according to international law and good neighborly relations. That is why it is first and foremost necessary to abandon the culture that ignores Turkey [...]"

🔸 "[...] A fair and permanent solution to the 'Cyprus problem' is possible only with a realistic approach. It is not fair that the leader of one of the two peoples accepted as equal by the UN on the island can speak to you.. For the sake of the solution, the equality of sovereignty and the equal international status of the 'Turkish Cypriot' people, which is the main element of the island, need to be ratified [...] I call on the international community to evaluate the views of the Turks with an open mind and without prejudice [...]" - Erdogan said, ignoring international law and related UN resolutions

Greek Pair of gold earrings with Ganymede and the eagleca. 330–300 B.C.

These earrings consist of a large honeysuckle palmette below which hangs a finely worked three-dimensional figure of the Trojan prince Ganymede in the clutches of Zeus, who has assumed the guise of an eagle. Coveted by Zeus for his beauty, Ganymede was carried off to Mount Olympos to be a cup-bearer for the gods. The pendants are sculptural masterpieces in miniature, which no doubt reflect in their basic conception a famous large-scale bronze group of the same subject, made by Leochares in the first half of the fourth century B.C.

🔴🔸 REMINDER 🔸🔴

🔸 The unofficial excuse for the Greek Coast Guard not acting as it should against illegal fishing by Turkish fishermen is to avoid escalation of tensions in the region

🔸 The Romanian Coast Guard on the other hand has chased out, shot at and also sank boats of Turkish fishermen who entered its waters and were fishing illegally. A lesson to be learned once International Law gives countries the right to engage ships involved in such practices

🎥 The second video is from 2011, the Romanian Coast Guard sank the Turkish fishing boat and arrested the whole crew
