I believe that my community is right up your street ( what you need ) and has been inspired by my students ,ONLY UP BOOK CLUB members and my 22 years teaching experience!

I started this chanel to share my passions with other people who are also into languages, books, Art and teaching.

📕📘📙Our BOOK CLUB was born in 2022. It is run by me and is divided into 3 seasons :

Winter Sessions
Spring Sessions
Autumn Sessions

Each season means 6 full Sessions (120 minutes = 1 session) on Sundays with 2 Sessions per month.

WhereSkype group
How many people 4- 6
Is it free to join our CLUBNo ( a monthly fee )

What do we read There were 2 big novels by modern writers first, then we came to realise that we wanted to try short stories and drama genres.

❗️11 prominent writers from different corners of the world had been already studied.

Not only do we discuss the literary creations, but also we look at biographical details and style of the authors.

I'm deeply in love with literature and languages. I hope that our BOOK CLUB 📖 serves its initial purpose, that is to help you read in original and fall in love with what you do !

🤗Our BOOK CLUB advocates for learning, collaboration and a book-friendly approach.

Всем привет!!
As far as I see , the book by Elif Batuman is among leaders ! I want to provide you and myself included with a brief introduction about the book 📖
" The Idiot " was published in 2017. Semi- autobiographical first novel by the Turkish American writer Elif Batuman
2018 Pulittzer Prize finalist in fiction
The Washington post about the book :
" a quirky, somewhat disquieting meditation on disengagement ,agitating contemplation ,it mirrors a growing and upsetting trend among so many young people who seem to have given up on the possibility of love and jubilation and euphoria before they have ever tasted it ..."
📖📕Let's take some more days for voting ( up to September, 6th ) and make our final choice then ,OK?
Мои дорогие, поставьте плюсик в комментариях те,кто идёт со мной в это волшебное путешествие ☕️

LANGUAGE TREASURE BOX
My dear friends, today I got inspired by BORROWINGS ( LOAN WORDS ) in English.
☀️Fun facts about them ☀️
📌Borrowed words in English came from Latin ( 29%) , French ( 29 %) ,Greek ( 6% ) and other languages ( Arabic,Italian,Chinese,Urdu , Japanese , etc )
📌English is wise and it kept the original spellings from the original languages
📌Prior to 1066 ,the people living in the British isles had no need for borrowed words. They spoke a German language called Old English.

Some examples for you:
Zero - from Arabic
Alarm - from Italian
Ketchup- from Chinese
Pyjamas - from Persian and Urdu
Massage - from French
Impromptu - from Latin
Moccasin ( Native American tribal languages)

🧐Can a language survive or evolve without loan words?
🧐Should the number of borrowings be somehow regulated ?

" IMPROMPTU " - What does this borrowing mean ?

LANGUAGE TREASURE BOX
Hi my dear friends! 🌺
Let's dive into ANIMAL IDIOMS in English 🔥🔥🔥

Origin:
Monkey business has its roots in the term Monkeyshine. This word was originated in 1832 and meant " dishonorable act" , it was used in the Jim Crow song which mocked African-American slaves. In earlier times parents in England warned their children against bad conduct termed as monkey tricks. The idiom was first recorded in print in 1883 in W.Peck's Bad Boy :
" There must be no monkey business going on "
The modern meaning is
📌silly act
📌dishonest tricks
📌immoral or a deceitful conduct
📌illegal activities

🧐Any other " juicy" IDIOMS from you with either " monkey" or " business " ???

VIDEO HARBOUR
Hi my friends! 🌻🌻🌻
I'm here to offer a cinematographic journey for the weekend to you all who are looking for a film to watch.
🔥Two truly talented and charismatic actresses , two different storylines, different countries and historic epochs.
📌SUNFLOWER ( 1970 ) starring Sofia Loren - a touching Italian melodrama directed by Vittorio de Sica
📌FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS ( 2016 ) - a life-affirming biopic starring Meryl Streep directed by Stephen Frears . An Oscar- winner for the best female part plus Golden Globus award.
😎🔥Some backstage facts about the film " Sunflower" I dug from the net :
🪄Before the film shooting started , Sofia had been informed that it would be in Siberia so she brought 5 fur coats with her not to get cold in Russia 😅 The venue of the film making was Tverskaya oblast and the season was actually summer 😝🌻🌻🌻After the film had been finished ,Sofia was impressed by hospitality and generosity of Russian people.
Have a pleasant watch ❤️ ,and share your impressions 👇👇👇
