Life changes, adapting to its surroundings. It’s not a plan, but a response. Imagine moths, some light, some dark. Light moths thrive on light bark, dark moths on dark bark. It’s about fitting in, not being "best." Things change slowly over time. Populations, not individuals, evolve. New versions of genes spread in a population if they help organisms survive and reproduce. Imagine a river, carving a path, not by design, but by the flow. That is evolution. It's real, it's ongoing, and it's how we got here.

There are 200 billion trillion (200 sextillion) stars in the universe not to mention other hot stuffs like black holes, cosmic rays and supernovas, but guess what? The average temperature of the universe is 3K (-270.15 degree celsius) which is wayyy colder than inside of a refrigerator (which is 0 degree celsius). Imagine how much big the universe is. Its fuckin cold out there!

Why do people mix up having a degree with the act of learning itself?

Seriously, they’re not the same thing! You can have a degree and be a genius or have a degree and still not know the difference between a black hole and a pothole.(like me)On the flip side, you can skip the degree entirely and still be out there inventing rockets or solving mysteries of the universe.

The issue is, especially here in Ethiopia, we’ve twisted the concept of learning into this degree thing . People now act like learning isn’t important at all. It’s like they skipped to the conclusion: “Degrees don’t matter, so why even bother?” Instead of recognizing that the *degree itself* is just a piece of paper, they’ve started thinking education as a whole is pointless.

And let’s be honest this "let’s skip school" mentality is dangerous. Sure, making money quickly sounds great in theory, but where does that leave us as a society? Who’s going to build the future? Who’s going to lead the country, develop life-saving technology, or explore space? Not everyone dreams of being rich overnight some of us dream of making a meaningful impact.(lemme cope here 🥸) ....(alrr, and maybe also proving Freud wrong about “the goal of all life is death 💀”)jk here cos i like the quote

Education gives us more than just degrees. Even if what you learn in school seems unrelated or boring, it gives you essential skills like critical thinking, creativity, and literacy—the tools to question the world and grow. The problem isn’t education itself, but how we approach it: focusing on grades instead of actual understanding, or thinking degrees automatically equal knowledge.

We need to stop sending the wrong message. Saying “degrees don’t matter as much as we thought” is fine, but that’s *not* the same as saying, “Learning doesn’t matter at all.” Let’s remind ourselves—and future generations—that while degrees may or may not define us, the act of learning is what will always shape us.

First off, thanks for differentiating between having a degree and actually pursuing something to learn and grow. My real problem with education (and I’ve said this a thousand times, and I’ll say it again) is that it takes the fun out of failing.

How on earth are we supposed to evolve as a society when we’re stuck in a system that not only discourages failure but actively punishes it for not following the same old ways?

The main reason this whole 'skip school and get rich' mindset is trending these days is because society measures success by money (which is honestly sad). Let’s be real: education has become the last thing people think of when it comes to making money.

The solution? Change the whole 'education for money' narrative. Start teaching kids for the sake of knowledge, creativity, and a better future. Give them a mission—like making humans an interstellar species. Inspire them! Tell them if they become doctors, they could cure diseases like cancer, instead of just promising them a paycheck.

Because let’s face it, the numbers don’t lie. (If you don’t believe me, go check the net worth of some TikTokers here in Ethiopia 😁… for what?) Let’s stop fooling this generation into thinking school is all about making tons of money. (Not saying you can’t, but that shouldn’t be the point.)

My point is: money should be a by-product of knowledge. If not, we’re in big trouble as a society. We’ll end up with geniuses who are broke and (sorry to say this) dumb people with a camera on TikTok, spending their days insulting others while sitting in houses full of money. To me, that’s an apocalypse.

That perfectly reflects my perspective on education. I couldn't have articulated it better myself. Thank you for your insightful explanations, @selfmadecoder and @studyvibewithnova

Cosmic accidents and the potential for existence of life elsewhere

We are the echoes of a billion gambles, born not from design but from the accidents of an indifferent universe. Hydrogen scattered into stars, stars shattered into elements, and those elements fell into orbit, forming this improbable world we now call home.

In the quiet cradle of Earth, where oceans kissed molten rock and lightning pierced primordial skies, life began—fragile, unassuming, yet relentless. From microscopic origins, it climbed against the tide of entropy, creating us: beings capable of thought, wonder, and a strange yearning to understand why.

We look upward, into the staggering void, and wonder if elsewhere, on some alien shore, molecules found their rhythm. Could others, under foreign suns, have emerged from the same cosmic roulette? Would they wonder about us, the way we wonder about them?

Perhaps they’ve already asked the questions we are just learning to articulate. Or perhaps we’re the first whispers of life in an otherwise quiet cosmos. Either way, we are proof that accidents, rare and chaotic, can create something astonishing: a species capable of transforming randomness into meaning.

The Ship of Theseus

Imagine a vessel. Over time, every component – plank, mast, sail – is replaced. Eventually, not a single original piece remains. Is this still the same ship?

This thought experiment probes identity. Is identity rooted in physical matter, or something more? Does an entity persist solely because of its constituent parts, or does a deeper essence bind it? The question challenges our understanding of change, continuity, and what constitutes a singular, enduring thing across time. It forces contemplation of inherent permanence versus fluid transformation. Where does the original identity reside, if no part remains unchanged?

This is not the definition of artificial general intelligence, its another example of idiotic venture capitalists acting as though they understand a science. Pathetic.

@Sandro_Yohannes made the first image in Blender. Then @Cast_Ray_Art drew it digitally. I thought this looked really gorgeous.

First off, the blender version looks so realistic I thought it was just a picture. On the digital art one I loved the tone of the art.
