BREAKING: Hacker used Anthropic's Claude chatbot to attack multiple government agencies in Mexico, Bloomberg reports

A hacker exploited Anthropic’s Claude chatbot to breach government systems in Mexico, stealing 150GB of govt data including taxpayer and voter info.

According to Gambit Security, the attacker used AI to find vulnerabilities, generate attack noscripts, and bypass safeguards through repeated jailbreak attempts.

The hacker also reportedly used OpenAI’s ChatGPT to navigate networks, identify needed credentials, and evade detection.

OpenAI says it detected policy violations and the chatbot refused to comply. The hacker remains unidentified.
