Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 3
August Daily Bounty Challenge

The second Global Challenge for the Shared Memories Anomaly Season is the Daily Bounty Challenge, which will kick off on August 1st at 0000 UTC and will run until August 31st at 2359 UTC.

Participation in this challenge won't earn you any Medal, be it the Shared Memories Anomaly Medal or the Global Challenge Medal, both of which were shown in a previous post.

Niantic will distribute 200 Season Points to the Factions based on the performance of Agents during this challenge:
🔸140 Points will be allocated based on the total number of “Research Days Completed" (days in which all 4 Bounties were completed) by all Faction members.
🔸60 Points will be allocated based on the total number of “Research Bounties Completed” by all Faction members.

Niantic will announce the results for this Global Challenge one week after the end on their blog. We will share the results on this channel once available!

⚠️ PSA to Android users ⚠️

The newest Ingress update 2.145.2 added scanning support for a lot of phones thanks to ARDK v3. However, this update also added new phone requirements to the app that are marked as mandatory to install or update Ingress via the Play Store.

As far as we can tell, phones now need to support ARCore as well as the DepthAPI of ARCore. If your phone does not meet the requirements you cannot install or update Ingress via the Play Store.

If you see the error above, you can follow these steps to see if your phone is currently supported:

🔸Head to this list and check if your phone is included
🔸If your phone is included, check if it also has the note "Supports DepthAPI"
🔸If your phone supports DepthAPI, check if ARCore is installed and updated via this link

If one of these steps fail your phone is currently not supported. Fixing this issue requires another app update, however as long as Niantic doesn't force the 2.145.2 update you can continue to play on the previous version.

🤓 Specifically. the "android.hardware.camera.ar" and the "com.google.ar.core.depth" requirements were added to the Android app manifest and were marked as mandatory. Changing the manifest requires an app update as it is part of the app itself, not a server side setting from Google.

iOS is not affected by this change.

⚠️Update: Niantic has (privately at first, then publicly a couple minutes ago) acknowledged the issue, and has clarified that the introduction of these blocking requisites on devices was not intentional.

The company states that they are investigating the issue, instructs to remain on v2.144.1 for the time being if a Play Store error message is shown, reassures that a force update will not be enabled until the issue has been resolved completely and that they will advise players when this will happen.

Investigator @Miketrevis has found that the star in the Shared Memories Anomaly medal actually represents the Goryōkaku fortress in Hakodate, Japan!

The fortress was built in the 1860s and was designed in a star shape to allow for a greater number of gun emplacements than a traditional Japanese fortress, and reduced the number of blind spots where a cannon could not fire. Today, Goryōkaku is a park declared as a Special Historical Site, being a part of the Hakodate city museum and a citizens' favorite spot for cherry-blossom viewing in spring.

How does that tie into the Shared Memories anomaly? Hakodate will be the site of the final anomaly battle on September 21st, together with Seattle! While it is unclear if the fortress holds a specific meaning during the anomaly itself, it certainly seems interesting that it is included in the anomaly medal. Agents should keep a close eye on the battle during September 21st!

Niantic has released 2.145.3 on Android, fixing the problem with ARCore blocking phones that were not compatible! If you had problems with updating or installing Ingress you should now be able to grab the newest version.

Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 4
Shard Skirmishes

At Shard Skirmishes, agents will participate in a 100-minute Shard-based operation across 57 cities in August and September.

August 24th - AMER Region (19 cities)
August 31st - APAC Region (19 cities)
September 14th - EMEA Region (19 cities)

During the event, 25 Shards will manifest in 5 waves, one every 20 minutes. Agents must move each Shard over 249.5m in the only jump these Shards can perform to score 0.5 Season Points for their faction.

Chosen cities will be revealed approximately 10 days in advance by means of an Ornamented Portal, which will appear in the center of each city. The Portals on which each Shard will spawn will be ornamented approximately 48 hours before the event begins!

Agents will be able to earn the Shared Memories Anomaly medal by hacking any Portal where a Shard is present or by interacting locally Rare Battle Beacons which will spawn on Shard Spawn Portals approximately 18 minutes before the planned jump. Remote recharge does not count for the medal.

⚠️ Portal Immunity Instability will be in effect during these events! We will explain this mechanic in a later post.

The battle of Shinjuku is over! Agents and NIA members of both factions did their best to control Shinjuku, but with an advantage in numbers of about 3:1, the Enlightened won with a score of 25 captured Battle Beacons to 1 from the Resistance!

NIA members Brian and Masashi have also announced that they will attend the Shared Memories anomaly in Hakodate later this year.

Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 5
Anomaly Events

These are the main events for every Anomaly Season! Agents will be able to live an action-packed weekend by participating in an Anomaly Weekend.
As far as Anomaly Points distribution is concerned, two main challenges will take place during the Anomalies, spanning across a total of 3 hours. These will distribute 200 Season Points to the Factions.

Anomaly Zone Event: Battle Beacons - 93 points total
NIASection14 will deploy Rare Battle Beacons inside the Anomaly Zone in 6 waves, lasting 30 minutes each.
🔸Agents will attempt to win the three phases of the Battle Beacons to earn up to 2+3+4 Beacon Points.
🔸A subset of the Portals on which these Beacons will be spawned will be activated as a Volatile Battle Beacon worth 3x the regular score, so up to 6+9+12 Beacon Points.
🔸Battle Beacon Category will not influence the score.

The waves with the highest score for each Faction will be used to distribute the 93 Season Points assigned to this challenge.

Anomaly Zone Event: Flash Shards - 93 points total
In each Anomaly Site, 6 waves of 13 Shards each will spawn at 30 minutes intervals, along with 4 fixed Target Portals per Faction.
🔸Agents will attempt to score a shard, by linking it to their Faction's Target Portal.
🔸Shards only travel along Links connecting L4+ Portals
🔸If multiple links to L4+ Portals exist on a Shard, it will randomly select one.
🔸Shards will not backtrack to a Portal they've been on in the prior 25 minutes.
🔸Shards will teleport to another Portal if not moved for 25 minutes.
🔸Maximum 4 Shards per wave can be scored on a single Target. Successive Shards will be worth 0 points.

The waves with the most Shards captured per Faction will be used to distribute the 93 Season Points assigned to this challenge.

The remaining 14 Season Points will be distributed during NIA TKO Stealth and Urban Challenges. More on this later 💪

⚠️ Portal Immunity Instability will be in effect during these events! We will explain this mechanic in a later post.

Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 6
Portal Immunity Instability

For Shard Skirmishes and Anomaly Events, Portals will experience instability in their immunity periods for ADA Refactors and Jarvis Viruses.

Starting times
Shard Skirmishes: approx. 15:00 local time of first city
Anomaly Events: approx. 13:00 local time of first city
Ending times
Shard Skirmishes: approx. 17:40 local time of last city
Anomaly Events: approx. 18:00 local time of last city

During these windows, the “Current Immunity Period” will be modified, globally, approximately every 30 minutes, affecting all portals immediately, regardless of when they were last flipped. Immunity times will vary between 5 and 55 minutes.

When a Portal flip is attempted using a Jarvis Virus or ADA Refactor, the time of the last flip will be compared to the “Current Immunity Period”, not the Immunity Period from the time of the last flip.

Here is a practical example:
-At time 15:00:00 the immunity period is set to be 50 minutes.
- An Agent successfully flips a Portal at 15:22:00.
- At 15:30:00, the Immunity Period changes to be 10 minutes long. Since the last flip happened 8 minutes ago, 2:00 minutes of immunity remain.
- At 15:31:00, an Agent attempts to flip the Portal again. The flip fails since one more minute of immunity remains.
- At 15:32:01, an Agent attempts to flip the Portal again. The flip succeeds.

ADA Refactors and Jarvis Viruses will be expended during both failed and successful flip attempts, as usual.

Nobody will be able to know these values before or during the event.
The list of values will be released after the conclusion of each event. A hash of this list will be released prior to each event, to verify that all values were pre-planned.

Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 7
Purchasable Medals

The Shared Memories series will introduce 4 brand new medals to buy as well as a rerun of the 2016 Hank Johnson medal! The medal kits will be available in the in-game store according to the following schedule:

🔶 August 18 - August 28
- Hank Johnson 2024 (new!)
- Hank Johnson 2016 (Re-release)

🔶 August 30 - September 9
- Shared Memories: Supporter (new!)

🔶 September 20 - September 30
- Azmati 2024 (new!)

The medal kits will cost 30,800 CMU each (~23€).

Tip: Planning to buy multiple medals? It might make sense to buy a bigger CMU package! This is how much each medal will cost in Euro if you buy the corresponding CMU package if you start with a balance of 0 CMU:

Niantic has published all details for the "Pursue Human Potential | Evolution Unbound" Global Event!

This event will run from Friday, July 26th @ 1600 UTC to Monday, August 12th @ 1600 UTC.

During this timeframe, the following bonuses will be active for all Agents:
🔸2x AP on all actions
🔸2 L8 Resonators will be deployable on a Portal by each Agent
🔸Drone cooldown reduced to 8 minutes
🔸Weapons will undergo some "experimental tuning"
🔸New Glyph Sequences may be observed during the event

⚠️ During the operation, the regularly scheduled Double AP 2sday bonus hour will not be activated because double AP will be granted throughout the duration of the entire period.

Finally, the three “Level 8” medals (Resistance, Enlightened and Machina) will be made available in the in-app Ingress Store again at the price of 2500 CMU each.

We are particularly eager to observe the "experimental tuning" which will be in effect during the event and the fluctuations that will occur to Glyph Sequences. Report any findings in our discussion group or on social networks with the #ingress hashtag!

Niantic has released Update 2.146.1 into the App Stores!

The new app icon for this Anomaly season has been added to the Scanner after it was already revealed on the official Ingress Telegram channel a few weeks back! Otherwise, although they may have been included in the update itself, no new bug fixes or feature changes were mentioned.

Niantic has announced that the Anomaly Zone for the upcoming Singapore Shared Memories Anomaly has been published on the Intel Map!

This zone counts 289 portals and it spans 1.75km north to south and 800m east to west. It is located right in the center of Singapore, in between the Marina and the gardens of Fort Canning Park.

Shared Memories Rules - Pt. 8 and final
NIA TKO Challenges

Every Anomaly Site normally hosts 3 NIA TKO Challenges, organized by GORUCK.

🔸Stealth Ops and Urban Ops
A series of competitive, physical challenges which are disputed respectively in the night before or the morning of the Anomaly. These events contribute to the score of an Anomaly Site, distributing 7 Season Points per challenge to the two factions.

🔸Operation Clear Field
An optionally crossfaction service-themed scavenger hunt with competitive Ingress exploration. Usually held the morning after the Anomaly.

All these are paid events hosted by GORUCK, and participants will obtain a patch of the event they participated in, and a point on their respective Ingress Badge.
If you are willing to put your own physical strength and power on the line to help your Faction in first person, this is the perfect way to do so!

🇵🇱 Virtual Ingress First Saturday Warsaw, Poland - August 3rd, 2024

As longtime followers of our channel may know, we don't usually advertise Ingress First Saturday events, but when we do, it's because these events are organized with a special motive.

This event, which will be held in the Polish capital, will be very meaningful, as it is a memorial event dedicated to Agent Marudosuav, who recently and too soon, left this world. The local community remembers him as a very active member of the Resistance and more of a friend than an enemy to the Enlightened.

As the Shared Memories Anomaly Season is about to begin, we are invited by the organizing team to share our fondest memories of any game-related encounters with agents you may no longer be able to meet and miss, as well as moments of joy or support that prove Ingress is more than a game and that Agents from both factions are more than opponents.
