Today, the Field Test on the Dispatch feature ends at 10:00 local time.

Although this newly introduced Field Test hasn't ended in every timezone yet, for those Agents located in timezones where 10:00 has already passed, The Resistance was already announced as the winner of the challenge on their scanner since they are ahead in terms of score at the moment. (The result is not decided, but extrapolated from the numerical score by the Scanner App)

Some Agents noticed this and reported the weird behaviour on Twitter (or X) and Brian Rose acknowledged it adding that "the Team is reviewing options for the next Event".

The Field Test: Dispatch event is over!

At the end of the event, the score of the factions and thus the distribution of completed bounties is as follows:

The Resistance has completed more bounties and therefore wins the Field Test! Remember though that this victory has no effect on the Shared Memories series and therefore stands “alone”.

This Sunday is Second Sunday! To gain a point for the Second Sunday badge you will need to complete 6 different Missions... for now.

Agents have recieved a mail describing how Second Sundays will work going forward from October! Instead of just completing 6 Missions during the day Agents will need to complete themed Bounties through Dispatch to increase their Second Sunday medal. How many Bounties will be needed and what they entail is currently unknown as well as if there are multiple Assignments (pages) of Bounties or just one. We will keep you updated if we find out something else!

The XM Anomalies on November 2nd and December 14th, will be accompanied by a limited-time global Campaign!
This event will be structured in a similar manner to the recent Campaign Field Test and Agents will be able to participate wherever they are, helping their faction gain important points for the Erased Memories series.

The Blog Post from Niantic does not specify whether this global Campaign will award either the Anomaly Medal, another Medal or a Medal at all, but, with regard to XM Anomaly attendance, it would make more sense to have a separate Medal to award in this case.

🇵🇱 Ingress Mission Day Sopot, Poland - October 12th, 2024

The Polish Ingress Community invites all Agency to visit Sopot, a charming coastal town that offers relaxation and excitement! It is located between Gdańsk and Gdynia and renowned for its sandy beaches along the Baltic Sea. The most iconic feature of Sopot is its wooden pier, the longest in Europe, which stretches over 500 meters into the sea, offering stunning panoramic views.

Beyond the beach, Sopot boasts a rich cultural and entertainment scene. The town’s famous Monte Cassino street is lined with cozy cafés, restaurants, and boutiques, providing a lively setting to enjoy local cuisine and nightlife. Another notable attraction for art and music lovers is surely the Forest Opera, an open-air amphitheater surrounded by lush greenery, which frequently hosts cultural events!

Niantic has released Update 2.150.1 to the App Stores!

A new button, the Handbook, was added in the Main Menu which leads to the (just recently refreshed and updated!) articles in the Getting Started section of the Support Center.

Additionally, a bug in which the Glyph results screen stayed permanently visible after a Drone Hack was fixed, as well as an issue where only one Bounty was visible on the screen for the Daily Assignments.

This update should now be available to all Agents on iOS and will become available in waves to all Agents on Android over the coming days.

Ingress Mission Day Cochabamba, Bolivia - October 19th, 2024 🇧🇴

Cochabamba is a city full of history and culture, considered the gastronomic capital of Bolivia and the heart of the country. The city stands out for its places to visit and do tourism, part of the valleys of Bolivia, it preserves its colonial appearance and the customs it inherited from its Quechua and Aymara ancestors.

When visiting Cochabamba you will be able to see the Cristo de la Concordia, the Tutawallpa canyon, the Simon I Patiño Center, and different colonial houses. Come and be part of the MD in Cochabamba and get to know the Bolivian culture, together with fellow agents.

Niantic has added a new product to the Niantic ecosystem: Scaniverse!

Using a technology called "Gaussian splatting" you are able to create high quality 3D scans of objects in just a few minutes which you can then download, share or contribute to Niantic Lightship. Contributions to Lightship will then be used for VPS, which in turn is used for Overclock in Ingress! You can also browse a map of both Wayspots and other places that have scans submitted to them and view their public 3D model.

Scans captured via Gaussian splatting are generally of higher quality than those taken via Ingress, Pokemon GO or other Niantic apps. If you are trying to activate Overclock for a Portal it might make sense to scan it via Scaniverse instead.

You can see an example scan using Gaussian splatting by our outside correspondent here: https://scaniverse.com/scan/eqxoovukmtmpj3cm. It took about 2 minutes of scanning to achieve this result.

To contribute and view the map you'll need to log in with your Niantic Account. While not required it is recommended to use the same Niantic Account used for Ingress or other games as future feature might link them together, such as a list of scans submitted through Ingress (as an example, this is not a confirmed feature). At the moment, no cross-app features exist, so you will not receive credit for the Scout or Scout Controller badge for scans taken in Scaniverse.

Please note that these features are currently only available on the iOS version of Scaniverse. While Android users can also scan places using Gaussian splats, they cannot upload them to Wayspots, browse the map of scans or log in with their Niantic Account yet. Niantic is working on the update for Android.

Agents are reporting a change of the Daily Assignments for new Agents.

New Agents are presented with new tasks and rewards that are aimed at helping them learn the game and advance to higher levels. Among the changes are new Rewards like AP and Apex, easier versions of existing Bounties as well as completly new Bounties like visiting an all time unique Portal.

It is currently unknown at which level range these tasks are awarded or if they appear for Recursed Agents as well. We assume that these tasks will be assigned to non-recursed Agents under L8, however we cannot confirm this theory. Let us know if you find other tasks, rewards or information!
