Niantic recently added the option to add a comment for the team during the reporting of invalid Wayspots which can be used to give additional information about why the Wayspot is invalid or to add the URL of a Splat created via Scaniverse to prove that an object was removed.
The Wayfarer team has now confirmed that it is working together with the Ingress team to (re-)add the same comment feature to Ingress!

Niantic has released Update 2.151.0 into the App Store and Play Store!
Dispatch was updated so that actions taken within the game will be reflected faster in the progress for Bounties. Fixes include an issue that could appear when opening the settings on an iPad as well as a softlock after hacking with a Drone. On Android, an issue with Samsung A20, A22 and A54 phones was also fixed which interfered with the head tracking using Sony Link Buds.
This update should be available on iOS now and should make its way to all Agents on Android over the next few days.

Niantic performed some tweaks on the rewards that can be obtained via Dispatch Bounties.
We have received numerous reports from Agents outlining differences in the rewards, which have been generally nerfed compared to the previous rewards. Here are some examples:

This series will span across all Q4 2024 and will feature a wide gamut of events both local and global.
🔸 Anomaly Site events include Beacon Battle, Shard Battle and GORUCK challenges, but with the addition of a new challenge: Covert Cache. Therefore, Anomaly sites will now be worth 260 points each.
🔸Anomaly Zone Portals will now be split into 3 clusters, and will be ornamented accordingly. Beacon Battles and Shard Battles will make use of this subdivision.
🔸A new global campaign will be launched starting on October 12th and ending on October 27th. Agents will be able to complete bounties to obtain the dedicated Erased Memories Global Challenge Medal
🔸Battle Beacon Skirmishes make their appearance alongside Shard Skirmishes! Skirmish Events can be one of these two types. Agents can deduce the type of Skirmish based on the ornaments which will appear in involved cities.
🔸Skirmishes will involve 19 cities in the AMER, APAC and EMEA regions hosting such events.
🔸A shorter "Bounty Blitz" Campaign will be launched in two phases lasting just a few hours on November 2nd and December 14th. 100 Season points can be obtained with this event based on the number of dedicated Bounties claimed.

Registration for this event will differ compared to GORUCK events. Instead of purchasing a ticket on a third-party website you will need to purchase a certain amount of CMU until October 11th, 90,000 CMU for non-subscribers or 32,000 CMU for C.O.R.E. subscribers. Once you have purchased the required CMU you need to fill out the Google Form linked below to register with Niantic until October 13th.

Q: What is Ingress Intel Ops?
A: A special event organized by the NIA SPI department to challenge participants physically and mentally, testing their problem solving skills and ability to navigate an urban environment, the core objective of Intel Ops is to identify High Value Targets (HVT) hidden in the Portal network. Participants will receive some initial instructions, and can then explore further clues from other sources. Upon successfully locating a personal High Value Target (HVT), the participant's Intel Ops medal count will be increased.
Q: How much physical fitness does Intel Ops require?
A: Walk about 5-8 kilometers in two hours. Mobility aids can be used, but please pay attention to local laws and safety.
Q: Should I fill out the form or purchase CMUs first?
A: Either way.
Q: Can I use the purchased CMUs immediately?
A: Yes.
Q: If I already have enough CMUs, can I decide not to purchase additional CMU?
A: No. Please purchase CMUs during the relevant period.
Q: Can the application be unsuccessful? Can spots be full?
A: If you do not fulfill the CMU requirement by October 11th or submit the application form by October 13th, your application will be unsuccessful. If the response is much higher than expected, NIA SPI may stop accepting applications early and make entries based on the time when all registration requirements were completed first.
Q: How can I confirm whether my registration is successful?
A: Successful applicants will be notified by email or Telegram from October 13th to October 20th. If you suspect that your contact information is incorrect, you can ask the Tainan POCs to forward the corrections to the NIA.
Q: Will CMU be deducted if my registration is successful?
A: No. Your CMU can still be used to redeem other Ingress products in the store.
Q: Will I get my CMUs back if my registration is unsuccessful, if the event is canceled, or if I cannot complete the event (obtain the needed HVT)?
A: No. Your CMU can still be used to redeem other Ingress products.
Q: If the registration is unsuccessfuk/the event is canceled/if the event cannot be completed (obtaining the needed HVT), will I still receive a point for the Intel Ops mefal?
A: No. The “Intel Ops” point is awarded only through HVT.
Q: What language is the event in?
A: Some of the clues will be in Chinese and English, while some will be in dialects and special language symbols. NIA SPI expects that participants who understand only Chinese or only English will be able to complete the program. For those who don't speak either language, NIA SPI suggests teaming up with someone who does and contributing to the puzzle experience in a language other than their own.

A: NIA SPI expects that good agents can earn the HVT on their own. Better agents can work together as a team to earn the HVT faster for everyone on the team.

For this Anomaly Series, there will be two main global Events in which Agents can participate.

This Event will take place starting on October 12th 2024 @ 0000 and will end on October 27th 2024 @ 2359 local time.

At Skirmishes, agents will participate in 100-minutes operations across 57 cities in November.
November 16th - AMER Region (19 cities)
November 23rd - APAC Region (19 cities)
November 30th - EMEA Region (19 cities)
Chosen cities will be revealed approximately 10 days in advance by means of 1 or 3 Ornamented Portal, which will appear in the center of each city. The Portals which will be actually involved in Skirmishes will be ornamented approximately 48 hours before the event begins.
Two kinds of Skirmishes are possible this Season, and each city will be randomly assigned one of them. Agents will be able to deduce the type of Skirmish that will be played by the number of Ornaments spawned.
Shard Skirmish
During the event, 25 Shards will manifest in 5 waves, one every 20 minutes. Agents must move each Shard over 249.5m in the only jump these Shards can perform to score 0.5 Season Points for their faction (12.5 Season Points total).
Agents will be able to earn the Erased Memories Anomaly medal by hacking any Portal where a Shard is present or by interacting locally with Rare Battle Beacons which will spawn on Shard Spawn Portals approximately 18 minutes before the planned jump.
Remote recharge does not count for the medal.
Beacon Skirmish
48 hours before this event, 60 Portals will be ornamented in three different colors, dividing them in three clusters.
During the event, 60 Very Rare Battle Beacons will be deployed by NiaSection14 in 3 waves, one for each cluster, one every 30 minutes. Agents will attempt to win these Battle Beacons and gain up to 0.225 Season Points per Beacon (each Battle Beacon point is worth 0.01875 Season Points) for their Faction (13.5 Season Points total).
Agents will be able to earn the Erased Memories Anomaly medal by by interacting locally with five Very Rare Battle Beacons deployed by NIASection14.
Remote recharge does not count for the medal.

The Erased Memories: Global Challenge is now visible on the Dispatch menu, giving us a first look at the colorless design of the medal of the event! Thanks to it we can also see that it'll be shaped like a diamond, so it stands to reason that the Supporter and Anomaly medals will also be diamond shaped just like the Shared Memories badges were round.

Erased Memories Rules Pt.4 - Anomaly Site Procedure
These are the main events for every Anomaly Season! Agents will be able to live an action-packed weekend by participating in an Anomaly Weekend.
As far as Anomaly Points distribution is concerned, three main challenges will take place during the Anomalies, spanning across a total of 3 hours. These will distribute 240 Season Points to the Factions.
📣 24 hours before and during the Anomaly Event, Anomaly Zone Portals will be ornamented in 3 different colors, dividing them in 3 clusters: A, B and C.
Anomaly Zone Event: Battle Beacons - 93 points total
NIASection14 will deploy Rare Battle Beacons inside the Anomaly Zone in 6 waves, lasting 30 minutes each.
🔸Agents will attempt to win the three phases of the Battle Beacons to earn up to 2+3+4 Beacon Points.
🔸A subset of the Portals on which these Beacons will be spawned will be activated as a Volatile Battle Beacon worth 3x the regular score, so up to 6+9+12 Beacon Points.
🔸Volatile Battle Beacons will only spawn in one designated cluster per wave, following this sequence: B, C, A, B, C, A
🔸Battle Beacon Category will not influence the score.
The waves with the highest score for each Faction will be used to distribute the 93 Season Points assigned to this challenge.
Anomaly Zone Event: Flash Shards - 93 points total
In each Anomaly Site, 6 waves of 13 Shards each will spawn at 30 minutes intervals, along with 4 fixed Target Portals per Faction.
🔸Each Shards wave will spawn inside a designated cluster following this sequence: A, B, C, A, B, C
🔸Agents will attempt to score a shard, by linking it to their Faction's Target Portal.
🔸Shards only travel along Links connecting L4+ Portals
🔸If multiple links to L4+ Portals exist on a Shard, it will randomly select one.
🔸Shards will not backtrack to a Portal they've been on in the prior 25 minutes.
🔸Shards will teleport to another Portal if not moved for 25 minutes.
🔸Maximum 4 Shards per wave can be scored on a single Target. Successive Shards will be worth 0 points.
The waves with the most Shards captured per Faction will be used to distribute the 93 Season Points assigned to this challenge.
Anomaly Zone Event: Covert Caches - 40 points total
During the Anomaly, Agents will be able to hack "Covert Cache Envelopes" from Anomaly Zone Portals. These media packages will earn Factions additional points and a percentage bonus at the end of the Anomaly!

🚨 Augusta Mission Day Update
The organizers of the Augusta Mission Day event, originally scheduled for November 9th, have announced they are seeking permission from Niantic to postpone or cancel the event.
This decision comes in response to the significant damage caused by Hurricane Helene: much of the area still lacks power and internet, local businesses are facing closures due to staff displacement caused by the heavy damages the storm brought upon the area and, for this same reason, hotel availability is close to non-existent.
The POCs express concern about agents' ability to recover from the disaster and experience a quality Mission Day under these circumstances. They are exploring the possibility of rescheduling for Q1 or Q2 of 2025.
More information will be provided as it becomes available from the event organizers.
Storm Helene also heavily impacted one of the organizers of this event, a very important point of reference to the community in southeastern US and regular Ingress Events host. The heavy winds eradicated a tree which fell right on top of Agent MadAlyice's house, effectively destroying it. The local Ingress community has organized a fundraising page on GoFundMe to help her and her family financially and contribute to the cost of cutting the tree up, removing it and find solutions to the damages caused.

Erased Memories Rules Pt.5 - Covert Cache and Portal Immunity Instability
Anomaly Zone Event: Covert Caches - Up to 40 points
This challenge is a new addition to Anomaly Events! Its scoring procedure also introduces some new elements.
During the Anomaly, Agents will be able to hack some difficult to obtain Media items called "Covert Caches". These media contain a one-time passcode which needs to be redeemed in order to grant the rewards to a Faction.
Two types of Covert Caches exist, in three different rarities: Season Point Caches and Percentage Boost Caches.
🔸 Common - 1 Season Point or 1% Percentage Boost
🔸 Rare - 2 Season Points or 2% Percentage Boost
🔸 Very Rare - 5 Season Point or 5% Percentage Boost
The 10 Covert Cache Passcodes at each Anomaly Zone, combined, will yield no more than 20 Season Points and 20% of Percentage Boost. Percentage bonuses will be applied first and will therefore not be applied to Season Point caches.
⚠️ There's a catch, though: these points will be applied differently based on which Faction wins the Anomaly in a particular site.
The Faction which has scored the least points before Covert Cache score is added, will obtain the bonus points in full, while the Faction which scored the most points will receive only 50% of these bonuses.
In the rare case of a tie, both Factions will receive full bonuses.
The list of portals, hackable window, bonus type, rarity and number of copies will be released after the conclusion of each event. A hash of this list will be released prior to each event, to verify that all were pre-planned.
Portal Immunity Instability
For Skirmishes and Anomaly Events, Portals will experience instability in their immunity periods for ADA Refactors and Jarvis Viruses.
Starting times
Skirmishes: approx. 15:00 local time of first city
Anomaly Events: approx. 13:00 local time of first city
Ending times
Skirmishes: approx. 17:40 local time of last city
Anomaly Events: approx. 18:00 local time of last city
During these windows, the “Current Immunity Period” will be modified, globally, approximately every 30 minutes, affecting all portals immediately, regardless of when they were last flipped. Immunity times will vary between 5 and 55 minutes.
When a Portal flip is attempted using a Jarvis Virus or ADA Refactor, the time of the last flip will be compared to the “Current Immunity Period”, not the Immunity Period from the time of the last flip.
Nobody will be able to know these values before or during the event.
The list of values will be released after the conclusion of each event. A hash of this list will be released prior to each event, to verify that all values were pre-planned.

In Japan, SoftBank and ITO EN sponsored portals will be ornamented in three batches from October 10th to October 31st, with one batch lasting a week. Each day, on 10:10am local times, these ornamented Portals will have Frackers deployed on them.
Globally, we will see the emergence of two new Glyphs starting from late October during Glyph Hacking: "REFRESH" representing ITO EN and "SPEED" representing SoftBank. "SPEED" will also act as a Glyph Command, limiting the hack output to Keys only!

Last week, agents from both factions united in Kandy for an epic Mission Day! Exploring the city’s culture, completing missions, and meeting and greeting fellow agents—it was everything a Mission Day should be.
Two dedicated attendees traveled 3 hours from Colombo (122 km) to join, showing true passion for the game. And the weather? Perfect—no rain, no harsh sun, just smooth vibes all day.
📌 Missions took them to iconic spots like the Temple of the Tooth, Kandy Lake, and Sri Vishnu Kovil, blending gameplay with the historic wonders of the area!

Niantic has updated Ingress to Version 2.152.1!
As it is customary by now the App icon was changed for the new Erased Memory Anomaly Series! You can see how the new icon looks above.
The game engine itself got an update for various bug fixes and performance improvements. For the Scanner a bug was fixed which showed the Agent damage indicator on the Map screen as "0".
This update is now available on iOS and should make its way to Android over the next few days.
