Agents have reported that some portals around the world have stopped decaying.

The phenomenon with frozen portals have earlier been spotted during 2024 and the cause still unknown.

A frozen portal seems to be unable to decay, and decay cant be triggered by any known way, besides if its neutralised and re-captured.
They will however gain a new timestamp if interacted with.

Niantic have earlier been able to restore the process of decay for these portals, and the portals have experienced double decay during the same day when started to decay again.

The move to Niantic Spatial is ongoing and a few more changes as a result of it have been noticed.

Ingress has been moved from the "Niantic Inc." to the "Niantic Spatial Inc." developer account on both the Play Store and the App Store, together with Peridot and Scaniverse. Additionally, the copyright notice on the bottom of ingress.com now also mentions Niantic Spatial instead of just Niantic.

Bigger changes have been seen around the support system. The website ingresshelp.com has been shut down which was a mirror to ingress.com/support. While the latter is still active it has been noticed that the ability to open a support ticket via the website has been removed.

As Niantic Spatial won't have access to Niantics support system anymore a new instance has been created which can be found at nianticspatial.helpshift.com/hc/en/5-ingress/. For the moment, this is a copy of ingress.com/support, but is linked to in the Scanner store when the language is set to Japanese.

Finally, a completely new instance of a new support platform was created at support.ingress.com, using the Zendesk platform instead of the Helpshift platform Niantic has been using. This website is currently devoid of any support articles but does include a dedicated form for reporting Agents for Spoofing, multi-accounting or usage of 3rd-party software.

Zendesk allows the creation of multiple tickets which are saved to a Zendesk account, should you choose to create one, meaning you will be able to look back at past tickets and can create new ones without needing to wait for the previous one to be resolved.

Brian Rose, Director of Ingress, has shared a comment on r/Ingress, stating that Portal Nominations and edits will be re-enabled in their new solution “soon”

NianticTintino announced in the forums that the final Wayfarer > Ingress sync happens on May 23rd at 7pm UK time.

Whilst any new Portals and Edits will not reflect until the actual manual sync that Ingress does, we would encourage you to take anything off Hold to try and get it to the Ingress map.

Niantic has released Update 2.167.1 into the App Stores!

The team has fixed the issue with the Scanner rendering behind the notification bar. Content is now shifted down by approximately the height of the notification bar so it should no longer be obstructed.

According to reports from Agents, this also fixed the sound issues on iOS where Ingress would override whatever was playing.

Recursion has been a known feature for a long time now: Hit the button on your profile at L16, wait 4 hours, choose a faction and restart at L1. But what if you could disrupt that known sequence?

Agent @EMREOYUN found out that it is possible to skip the faction selection screen and continue to play with your previous faction basically endlessly from L1 again, all while "saving" the option to switch your faction to be used whenever you need. They have demonstrated this bug in a Sitrep after making their way back to L8 without selecting a team!

Agents are reporting that nominations and edits that have been made to Wayfarer via Ingress are now missing from the contribution management page.

While it only seems to affect some contributions for some, others are reporting that every single Ingress contribution has been either hidden or removed. It is currently unknown if this is an error or intended due to the Niantic Spatial/Scopely split.

The transition to Niantic Spatial continues, with the Niantic Labs social media accounts being taken over!

In particular, the username of the NianticLabs account was changed to NianticSpatial, carrying over all the prior followers and posts, while the Niantic Labs account on Instagram had its name changed to Niantic Spatial Inc.

It seems like Niantic is currently in the process of getting Recon ready and nominations and edits are disabled due to it. If you're trying to nominate via deep link the Scanner prompts you to link an email to your account. This message normally only appeared if you use Ingress with an Facebook account which only has a phone number linked to it.

If you had Nominations, edits or scans saved to Upload Later, don't reinstall Ingress as that will delete them. For now, keep the Scanner as is and they should hopefully reappear once the feature is re-enabled.
