Niantic seems to have solved the problem of non-decaying portals. 
All portals that currently were unable to decay will most likely decay twice within 24 hours of the last update to Niantic Spatial.

For +Delta, Ingress will offer Premium Campaigns and new medal series. Assuming that each medal series has at least two new medals, that means that every new thing in the store will cost a total of 338.800, aka at least 200€+ assuming you buy x2 200k CMU packs.

As with +Theta it will be possible to gain the gold tier without traveling to an Anomaly.

Assuming you are perfectly completing all global events you will earn a total of 17860 +Delta Tokens, putting you over the 15000 Tokens required.

If you attend all three Anomaly Weekends the maximum +Delta Tokens that you can earn is 32860 tokens.

Spatial has released Update 2.169.1 (nice) into the App Stores.

After 2.168.1 has been skipped, this version incudes another bug fix for the overlapping top header on the map screen which some Agents still reported to happen after the last update. In addition, support for upcoming Dispatch Campaigns was added.

Not listed but reported by Agents is that the notification dot on the Dispatch icon for completed Premium Bounties is now hidden if you haven't bought the Premium upgrade for the Campaign.

The German book "Computerspiele – 50 zentrale Titel" ("Video Games – 50 Key Titles"), released last month, offers a scholarly perspective on video games. Written by cultural scholars, philosophers, historians, journalists, and developers, the focus is not on technical innovation or sales, but on what games reveal about our time, ourselves, and the medium itself.

Included on pages 184 to 191 is our beloved game Ingress! It has been chosen to stand between the 49 other noscripts because, as the author says (translated and summarized from the first page):

Unlike typical computer games, Ingress is not played indoors, in isolation, or purely on a screen. It questions ideas like digital disembodiment, social isolation, and the separation between play and everyday life (the "magic circle"). As a location-based game, Ingress requires players to physically move in the real world, using GPS tracking to interact with the game. This physical engagement sets it apart from stationary gaming. While Pokémon GO (2016) is better known, Ingress is featured in the book as its predecessor—and the better game*—because it laid the groundwork for this genre.

*Yes, that is how it is written in the book. Looks like the author is an Agent through and through :D

If you have registered an account on the Niantic Lightship platform (renamed to the Niantic Spatial platform some months ago) you might have received this email telling you about an upcoming deprecation of the "Maps SDK for Unity". As we have seen some people confused and worried that this will affect Ingress or the Geospartial Browser, we want to clarify what this SDK is.

Niantic offered this SDK as a tool to developers so that they could design a map style which they then could use in their owm projects. Think of it like the Ingress map where it shows you the streets and water features around you, but only when you're near them; to display these "tiles", the Scanner sends a request to the server for the map data which then gets interpreted and stylized based on the design choices embedded in the Scanners code. The SDK allowed an easy way to both request that map data and use it with a pre-determined design choice.

This is the part that will be sunset for independent developers. The rest of the services Niantic Spatial offered, like VPS or the Geospartial Browser, are not affected and unless you are a developer who already "knows" what that SDK was absolutely nothing will change for you. Ingress itself also won't be affected as Niantic Spatial uses an internal API to create these map tiles.

TL;DR: Nothing will change or impact you in any way unless you already actively developed a Unity App using this SDK.

The first IFS 2x AP event is currently happening around the world, running from 08:00 to 20:00 local time and awarding double AP on all actions.

... except for Scans. As with the 2x 2sDay which was replaced by this event, the AP for Scans do not follow this rule and are instead awarding 2x AP from 08:00 UTC to 20:00 UTC. If you have Scans banked, pay attention to the current UTC time and plan your uploads accordingly.

Ingress has released 2.170.1 into the App Stores!

No notable fixes for the Scanner itself are listed, but the notes mention that the Emails for the Mission Creator Tool have been fixed and are now being send again.

Specifically for Android, as announced at the start of this year, support for 32-bit devices has ended. Going forward you will need a 64-bit device to continue playing.

An anonymous XM miner claims to have identified a recurring sequence in Machina's background processes – a rhythmic ebb and flow. Could this point to a scheduled cycle of dormancy and activation? Further investigation is warranted.

We have confirmed reports of Machina, both Portals and Links, decaying. It seems like Machina will vanish completely over the next few days and will return afterwards, as it has done before.

In Ingress adjacent news, ITO EN which had a sponsorship agreement not only with Ingress but also Pokémon GO has announced that they will end their collaboration with Pokémon GO at the end of this year. After December 31st all Pokestops and Gyms that were added to the game at locations of the ITO EN vending machines in Japan will be removed.

ITO EN has deeper sponsorship ties into Ingress not just with sponsored Portals in Japan, but also the global deployment of the ITO EN Transmuter item. At the moment there are no (public) indicators that the company also wants to end their collaboration with Ingress.

During the campaign you can earn special "+Delta Reso Points", separate from the +Delta Tokens. You can earn points though the following actions:

- Deploying a Level 8 Resonator: 10 Points
- Upgrading a Resonator with a Level 8 Resonator: 10 Points
- Owning a Portal that receives a deployed or upgraded Level 8 Resonator: 1 Point
- Destroying a Resonator or any Level: 1 Point

These points will be used to distribute 200 Season Points among the factions after the end of the event.

Additionally, a special Campaign will be active with up to 7 Bounties. These Bounties will involve the following actions:

- Earning “+Delta Reso Points”
- Deploying Resonators
- Destroying Resonators
- Creating Control Fields

Completing these Bounties will award you +Delta Tokens. After completing 5 Bounties you can choose to restart the Campaign early by skipping up to 2 Bounties.

100 additional Season Points will be awarded to the factions based on the amount of Bounties claimed during the event.

Our recommendation: Stock up on L8 Resonators via hacking and Kinetic Capsules and make sure that you have Portals where you can deploy or upgrade a L8 Resonator on. Also note that the last 2-ish days overlap with Level 8 Week during which you can deploy 2 L8 Resonators.
