NiaS has identified an issue with Keys not correctly sorting by Faction in Capsules and is investigating.

According to Brian on Reddit, this change in hiding the navigation bar on Android is due to a policy from Google that automatically displays apps "edge-to-edge" when the app is targeting Android 15+ and with that the so called "SDK 35". Due to an upcoming Google deadline which would have prevented any new updates for Ingress NiaS has decided to target SDK 35 for now even if the navigation bar will be hidden. Bringing it back involves "significant work" and will likely take a bit.

Another feature that is facing a deadline is the Deep Link feature of the Scanner which uses the Firebase platform. Firebase has announced that their Deep Link feature will be shut down on August 25 and all links created through it (including Scanner links to an Agents profile or a Mission) will stop working.

Brian and the team are aware of this deadline and are trying to find a solution before this deadline passes.

In response to Machina Portals being sparse and not that easily findable at the moment, this Second Sunday has lowered the requirement for the "Reclaim Machina Portals" task from 20 to 5 Portals.

Niantic Spatial has started to work on the Recon backlog a bit! While we don't know if "the team" is actually a human or an AI, there is some movement happening with edits being resolved.

Niantic Spatial has released Version 2.173.1 into the App Stores!

Quite a bit was added this time! Agents that are badge locked and can't level past L8 due to missing badges now have an indicator in the form of a "badge lock icon" alerting them to it. The Handbook was renamed to the "Training Manual" and a Community button was added that links to the Bluesky profile of the Ingress team. Finally, a scrollbar was added to the Store and a red dot now appears if there are daily free items to claim.

On the side of Bug fixes, an issue was fixed that resulted in long waiting times when trying to sort Keys by distance or name as well as a soft lock in the Dispatch screen that hid the (x) button to exit the screen.

Agents on iOS should see this update in their App Store already while Android Agents will need to wait a bit while the update is rolled out in waves.

It seems like the soft lock in the Dispatch screen that appears when you tap on a Bounty has not been fixed, even though it has been mentioned in the Release Notes. If you are on Android you can exit the screen by tapping the Back button, otherwise you can switch to the Daily Bounties and open and close one of them as that also brings back the (x) button.

The +Delta Campaign: Fields is now visible in the Dispatch screen and confirms what some people have feared: Aside from creating Fields, you will also need to destroy Fields to complete the Campaign Bounties which can be hard to do if the opposite Faction doesn't feel like fielding in your area.

Unless Machina suddenly starts to field, prepare accordingly!

This is how Ingress now notifies you if you are badge locked! Once you open your profile with enough AP, but not enough tiered medals the message above will appear to inform you of the new requirements. In addition, a new badge lock icon is now shown besides the Agent Level shown on the map screen.

Another change that wasn't listed in the recent Release Notes were new Deep Links! With the original Firebase Deep Links shutting down this week the team has moved to a new format which also looks more clean. All old Deep Links should continue to work for now as well, but if you have a Deep Link anywhere important you should try to update it.
