As it turns out this is completely wrong, the sync is currently still running normally and hasn't been suspended. Niantic has confirmed to us though that the sync will be affected sometime during the anomaly weekend, so if you do see something not syncing properly don't be alarmed and give it a few more days.

Niantic mentioned a "Fix for overlapping text on Portal Key list" in the latest Update Notes, but what exactly does that mean?

If a Portal had a long Portal noscript or had a long address, it was possible that it wasn't cut off correctly and was overlapping with the Resonator information if the Portal in question was captured. The display for the text was changed so that this overlapping should not occur anymore.
