"Uprooted" is the documental film about the abduction of Ukrainian children by russians

The Kyiv Independent's war crimes investigations unit presents our first documentary, which sheds light on the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia or Russian-occupied territories.

We will share the story of a group of children known as "Group 31", who were taken to Russia in May of 2022, and have not been returned to Ukraine. Amongst them was Pylyp Holovnya, who was taken into the family of Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Russia.

Around 20,000 children who were taken to the Russian Federation and territories controlled by Russia have been officially identified. But according to human rights activists, the number of deported children may be even higher.

While Russians brag about these war crimes, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants against Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova for the deportation of children.
