The death toll from the shelling of the Svyatogorsk Lavra on June 1 has risen to four. At the time of the shelling, 3 monks were killed and five were seriously injured. One of them died at the hospital on June 3.
"The cynical shelling of the monastery, where in addition to the monastery brothers and sisters, there are about 300 refugees, including the disabled, the elderly, about 60 children, including infants, is not amenable to any reasoning and understanding of how can be an enemy these peaceful people who hid from the war in the walls of the ancient national shrine of the Slobozhansky region of the Svyatogorsk-Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra", – said in a statement of the Donetsk eparchy of the UkrainianOrthodox Church.
It is also reported that the wooden church of 1912 was destroyed by russian artillery strikes on the territory of the monastery complex
