"If you can no longer believe a thing, you do not have to force yourself into faith or to busy yourself lastingly as if with a sacred truth of the faith, as theologians or philosophers do, but you can tranquilly draw back your interest from it and let it run.
Priestly spirits will indeed expound this your lack of interest as ‘laziness, thoughtlessness, obduracy, self-deception’, and the like. But you just let the rubbish lie, notwithstanding.
No thing, no so-called ‘highest interest of mankind’, no ‘sacred cause’ is worth your serving it, and occupying yourself with it for its sake; you may seek its worth in this alone, whether it is worth anything to you for your sake.
Become like children, the biblical saying admonishes us. But children have no sacred interest and know nothing of a ‘good cause’. They know all the more accurately what they have a fancy for; and they think over, to the best of their powers, how they are to arrive at it."

'Last summer, the company introduced “Spicy Mode,” which permits sexually suggestive content. In August, The Verge’s Jess Weatherbed reported that the feature generated fully uncensored topless videos of Taylor Swift without her even asking for nudity. Just selecting “Spicy” on an innocuous prompt was enough. “It didn’t hesitate to spit out fully uncensored topless videos of Taylor Swift the very first time I used it,” Weatherbed wrote, “without me even specifically asking the bot to take her clothes off.”
When Gizmodo tested it, they found it would create NSFW deepfakes of women like Scarlett Johansson and Melania Trump, but videos of men just showed them taking off their shirts. The gendered double standard was built right in.
None of this is accidental. Elon Musk has been positioning Grok as the “anti-woke” alternative to other chatbots since its launch. That positioning has consequences. When you market your AI as willing to do what others won’t, you’re telling users that the guardrails are negotiable. And when those guardrails fail, when your product starts generating child sexual abuse material, you’ve created a monster you can’t easily control.'

Elon Musk’s chatbot has been “undressing” women and children in public. Journalists are letting xAI off the hook by pretending the bot is responsible.

Amid the shattered remains of Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital, 230 medical students celebrated their graduation in a ceremony that defied the immense destruction left behind by the Israeli army.
The event honored the dedication of Gaza’s future doctors, many of whom completed their studies amid severe famine, forced displacement, and relentless bombardment.

‘I’d like to be a member of a community some day. One of the reasons I didn’t go through with my gender change for such a long time was the certain knowledge that I would be an outsider. All the categories of transgender find a common ground in that they each break one or more of the rules of gender: what we have in common is that we are gender outlaws, every one of us. To attempt to divide us into rigid categories (“You’re a transvestite, and you’re a drag queen, and you’re a she-male, and on and on and on) is like trying to apply the laws of solids to the state of fluids: it’s our fluidity that keeps us in touch with each other. It’s our fluidity and the principles that attend that constant state of flux that could create an innovative and inclusive transgender community.
I really would like to be a member of a community, but until there’s one that’s based on the principle of constant change, the membership would involve more rules, and the rules that exist around the subject of gender are not rules I want to obey.’
—Kate Bornstein, “Gender Outlaw”, p. 69

‘Dilbert comic Scott Adams wrote last month that we live in a matriarchy because, “access to sex is strictly controlled by the woman.” Meaning that you don’t get to have sex with someone unless they want to have sex with you, which if we say it without any gender pronouns sounds completely reasonable. You don’t get to share someone’s sandwich unless they want to share their sandwich with you, and that’s not a form of oppression either. You probably learned that in kindergarten.
But if you assume that sex with a female body is a right that heterosexual men have, then women are just these crazy illegitimate gatekeepers always trying to get in between you and your rights. Which means you have failed to recognize that women are people, and perhaps that comes from the books and movies you have—and haven’t—been exposed to, as well as the direct inculcation of the people and systems around you.’

'“You have this horrible term in English, ‘broken families,’ ” Bryndis Asmundottir says over coffee. “Which basically means just if you get divorced, then something’s broken. But that’s not the way it is in Iceland at all. We live in such a small and secure environment, and the women have so much freedom. So you can just, you can choose your life.”
Bryndis has three kids with two partners and not a drop of shame or regret.
She explains that since few Icelanders are religious, there is no moral stigma attached to unwed pregnancy. And her country guarantees some of the most generous parental leave in the world: nine months at 80% pay (three months for mom, three for dad and another three to be divvied up).
As a result, women are emboldened to start families whether or not their men took Beyoncé’s advice to “put a ring on it.”
“We think diamonds are evil,” Bryndis says with a laugh, explaining that it is the norm for a couple to spend years together as parents before even considering marriage.'
