According to The Guardian, the total cost is 150 thousand euros. An unnamed climber discovered the jewels in a metal box in one of the Mont Blanc glaciers. The total weight of the jewelry was 140 grams. The climber acted according to the law - he immediately informed the police about his find, who for eight years had not been able to find the owners of the jewelry.
The Mayor of Chamonix thanked the man for his law-abidingness. The climber himself, when he found out in July that he would receive half of the jewels, admitted that he did not regret his honest act. He will spend part of the proceeds on renovating the apartment.
The jewelry box was believed to have fallen out in the crash of one of the Air India planes that crashed into the mountain in 1950 and 1966
