Statue of Liberty in Paris before being sent to America, 1886.
Construction began in 1875. To complete the Statue of Liberty, construction teams worked around the clock, 7 days a week, for 9 years. After completion in 1885, the statue was dismantled into 350 parts and sent to New York, where it was collected again.
Several parts of the statue were sent ten years earlier. The Hand and Torch of Freedom were exhibited at the 1876 World's Fair in Philadelphia and then in Madison Square Park to cause hype and raise money.
