Far over, the Misty Mountains cold....
Where are the real life Misty Mountains? J. R. R. Tolkien was partially inspired by his own travels through the Swiss Alps in the early 1900s. Alp is etymologically related to 'alb' and 'Alf' from the PIE word meaning 'white' as we see in names like Albion or the Albigensians and the Swedish river Göta älv.
Tolkien may have also gotten his inspiration from Skírnismál in the Poetic Edda, in which the travels of Freyr's messenger Skirnir involves misty mountains (úrig fiöll), amongst other things.

You know there’s a problem when you start seeing too many social media accounts teaching young men and women about ‘game’. You always feel your heart sink into your gut after seeing what they write.
Do you really think your grandparents needed this so-called advice?
This is how far our society has fallen
No one trusts love – real love – anymore
We are broken people in broken societies
Craving what is real and natural
But unable to accept and trust it
Because we choose not to trust ourselves
Only the wounded play and are played by games
Healthy, well-adjusted women lead with their heart
She offers it trustfully to a man who genuinely cares for her
There is no need to demand obedience or the brutality of command
When she knows her heart is met by the grounding of a good man
His certainty, understanding, and patience softens her
As men need our certainty, understanding, and patience to strengthen
This is all as simple as listening to your heart
Not listening to somebody else who is too afraid to love.
