This mesmerizing bee defense system is known as 'shimmering'.

An interesting and at the same time scary phenomenon called "ice finger" or "icy oyster of death" is caused by natural salt water, which is thicker than other seawater and has a lower freezing point.

When very cold saline water flows downward, warmer seawater covers the area around the drip with a brittle layer of ice.

Researchers say that because so little research has been done on these droplets, it is very difficult to determine when and how they formed. This phenomenon is caused by the collapse of the ice sheet or severe weather conditions.
