⚡️🇷🇺 "WHAT WAR?" - RUSSIA'S ECONOMY OUTPERFORMS ALL FORECASTS: In 2 years of the Special Operation, Russia’s economy repeatedly defies the doomsayers. A financial collapse, widely predicted in 2022, never came to pass.

Last year, prices accelerated rapidly; economists believed they could spiral out of control. Putin urged officials to give “special consideration” to rising prices. Once again, the Russian economy appears to be proving the pessimists wrong - The Economist admits.

On a year-on-year basis inflation is no longer rising, having hit 7.5% in November. Many expect the rate to fall to just 4% before long & expectations of future inflation have flattened.

The performance of the economy is now in line with pre-2022 trends; unemployment remains at record lows & the rate of business closures also hit an 8-year low. Forecasts of GDP growth this year of 1.7% look too humble - while Russian production facilities have set up new supply chains with friendly countries, outplaying Western sanctions.

The Economist massively compliments the work of the Russian Finance Ministry, while calling the Russian economy "a proud pariah." A contradictory observation. 🤷‍♀️
