Statement from the General Council of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Neighborhoods Regarding Recent Developments

🛑Our neighborhoods have been subjected to heavy weapons bombardment since January 6th.
🛑 This bombardment has targeted mosques, schools, hospitals, civilian homes, and service facilities.
🛑Our people and our Internal Security Forces are showing great resistance in the face of these attacks.
🛑These attacks aim to commit massacres against our people and launch a new wave of forced displacement.
🛑The Council: These attacks mean changing the demographic composition of the city and undermining the April 1st agreement.
🛑The interim government is carrying out its attacks with the support of the Turkish state.
🛑We strongly condemn the international silence of the powers that were present at the March 10th and April 1st agreements.
🛑 The attacks and the threat of massacres against our people continue.
🛑 We are determined to remain in our neighborhoods and defend them, and we will not... We surrender

🛑 The massacres committed against Alawites and Druze are being repeated in our neighborhoods
🛑There are martyrs and wounded among women and children, and the neighborhood hospital was targeted. This is a war crime.
🛑 We will not accept the pressures imposed on us or the calls for surrender and capitulation.
🛑We do not trust the Damascus government to entrust our security to us, and we have decided to remain in our neighborhoods and defend them.
🛑 We call upon our people to stand with us and to mobilize in defense of our neighborhoods.

The people of Sheikh Maqsud said: "We will resist to the end."

The people of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiyeh, young and old alike, once again declare their decision to resist, vowing to stand alongside the Asayish forces against the attacks.

Clashes resume in Ashrafieh neighborhood after general mobilization declared.
The Damascus government forces are again bombing civilian areas. Security forces are responding to the attacks.

Preparations are underway for convoys from all cities of Rojava to head to Aleppo to support the resistance in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh and to join the general mobilization.

We call on our people of Sheikh Maqsud and Ashrafiye to turn to Mustafa Khalid Fajir, to take care of their wounded, and to mobilize to protect their neighborhoods.

The People of Girkê Legê Also Decide to Join the Mobilization

Following the resistance decision of the people of Şex Maqsud and Eşrefiye and the subsequent call for mobilization, the people of Northeast Syria have mobilized.

The youth and people of Kobane have also declared their support for the mobilization call and are preparing to set off towards Aleppo.

Syria, the international community and the Kurdish people need to understand that the resistance in Aleppo is not about politics or ideology.

The Syrian Government promises that the rights of the Kurdish people will be protected - the Kurdish people however, have seen what has happened at the Syrian coast and in Suweida - when the Syrian government massacred the Alawite minority and the Druze minority there, after promising them that „their rights will be protected“
What should the Kurdish people do?
There simply is no trust in the Jolani led administration.

Further, there is already an agreement in place between the STG and the Asayish in Aleppo - the agreement was signed in April 2025 and integrated the Asayish into the STG security apparatus.
The Syrian Government broke that agreement and attacked the Kurdish neighbourhoods, even demanding the Asayish to leave - even though per agreement, the Asayish is part of the STG security infrastructure.
What should we Kurds do?
The STG broke the Aleppo agreement from April - where’s the guarantee that the STG will honour a new agreement?

3 days of indiscriminate artillery strikes on the Kurdish neighbourhoods in Aleppo - with over 100 wounded civilians and dozens of dead civilians.
The STG proudly posted footage, using MLRS systems and heavy artillery howitzers to bombard the Kurdish neighbourhoods - yet, the Syrian government media entirely blames the damages on the Kurds, even though the Kurds in Aleppo do not possess medium or heavy artillery systems.
The damages can’t be attributed to the Kurds.
Yet, the Syrian Government Media attributes them to the Kurds - how can we trust a government whose media outlets are spreading propaganda and misinformation about the Kurds?

Yesterday - the Syrian government Forces executed 5 Kurdish minors in Aleppo - yet, the STG media does not mention it, instead they are falsely claiming that they are rescuing the Kurdish people and operating with the „highest standards“
Is the execution of Kurdish minors considered „the highest standard“ in New-Syria?

Instead of addressing all these issues - a media warfare has been launched against the Kurdish people.
It starts by falsely claiming that the SDF is in Aleppo, then they claim that the Kurds in Aleppo are all members of the PKK, members of the IRGC even - all the way to saying that we are operating as a proxy for Israel.

The Arab people have also decided to join the resistance in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh!

The revolutionary youth in Raqqa answer the general call to arms for Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh and prepare to head to Aleppo.

STG supreme leader Jolani called Masoud Barzani, head of the KDP to discuss the situation in Aleppo.

Masoud Barzani, generally speaking, the KRG only intervened in Syrian-Kurdish affairs when tensions escalated beyond control.
