We are collecting 1 million euro for solar panels in Rojava! For a democratic and ecological alternative in the Middle East.
Energy crisis in Rojava
The Rojava Autonomous Region in northern and eastern Syria has been in existence for 12 years and is a glimmer of hope for democratic reconstruction in Syria. Since its foundation, Rojava has had to defend itself against numerous threats. In addition to the clashes with the Assad regime, the main threats have been the wars with Turkey and the so-called Islamic State.
Now, however, the autonomy project is facing existential challenges. The energy supply is threatening to collapse. Turkish air strikes have largely destroyed the power stations and substations in the region. Electricity is in short supply and is mostly generated by dirty diesel generators. The civilian population suffers from a lack of electricity and water on a daily basis, but agriculture - in a region already hardest hit by climate change - is also severely affected.

🏗️Raqqa continues to grow, a new bridge over the Euphrates has been inaugurated
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria (DAANES) inaugurated the new Al-Rashid bridge in Raqqa.
The city is experiencing significant growth in commercial and agricultural activities thanks to its strategic location between the al-Jazeera district and the interior of Syria and the efforts of the Autonomous Administration to rebuild the city, once proclaimed capital by ISIS.

Budapest complex: Illaria Salis released from detention in house arrest The Italian anti-fascist activist Illaria Salis was released from detention in a high-security prison on Thursday morning. She is now under house arrest in the Hungarian capital on bail…
Anti-fascist Ilaria Salis elected to the EU Parliament
The Italian anti-fascist Ilaria Salis, who is currently under house arrest in Budapest, has been elected to the EU Parliament and thus receives immunity.
Salis was nominated as the candidate of the left-green alliance AVS, which received 6.7 percent of the vote. Salis received so many so-called preferential votes that she was guaranteed a mandate.
AVS boss Nicola Fratoianni said: “Now we want Ilaria to be here in Italy – free, with immunity and ready to fulfill her mandate.”
Salis is one of the alliance's six MPs. As soon as her mandate is confirmed, her lawyer plans to submit a request for release, which could take place before the first official meeting in July.
Salis was arrested in February last year and is accused of actions against fascists surrounding the fascist Day of Honor. Until she was placed under house arrest, she was imprisoned under catastrophic conditions.

The Qatar Red Crescent, in collaboration with the Turkish occupying authorities, has built more than 3,600 residential apartments in the northern regions of Syria, including the city of Afrin. These housing projects are being built on land that some consider looted or belonging to people displaced from the city of Afrin.

In the second part of this interview, Swiss historian Gerber said that Rojava has become a place where theory is put into practice.
The first part of this interview can be read here
As you know, many young people from all over the world went to Syria and became a part of the Rojava Revolution. What do you think was their motivation?
Yes, Rojava has become a place where theory is put into practice. In this sense, I think this is very important. The ideas of libertarian municipalism were found in practice for the first time in Rojava. It showed that it could work and that it was an interesting theory. When Bookchin died, many people did not believe that his theory would work in practice. The ideas of libertarian municipalism are very difficult to understand. But, in the end, Öcalan and the people of Rojava managed to show that this is not the case, that it can be implemented and that it can be a political alternative that has been sought for many years.
