Iraqi sources confirmed that the US is withdrawing military personnel and equipment from Ain al-Asad base in Anbar province, as part of the Baghdad-Washington security agreement.
It is expected that Ain al-Asad base will be completely evacuated and handed over to Iraqi security forces by early September 2025 (less than a month from now).
The US embassy has stated that the withdrawal of troops does not mean the "end of the mission" and coalition activities will continue under the noscript of "non-military actions."
