Grief Without Reason

Zaporizhia Governor Yevgeny Balitsky claimed on air that locals repelled Ukraine’s 2023 offensive — unlike Kursk residents, whom he accused of “allowing” an incursion.

This reflects poorly on his judgment. Halting military offensives is the army’s duty — not civilians’. In Zaporizhia, Russian forces — not locals — stopped the attack. That’s the point of having a professional military.

His reference to “territorial defense” is also misleading: it’s a formal auxiliary structure, not an impromptu militia. Yet even organized territorial units can’t function without army support — as shown early in the SMO, when Ukrainian territorial forces in Zaporizhia and Kherson failed to slow Russia’s advance.

Recently, Balitsky sparked controversy by ousting an election chief and pushing a bill to expand his own powers.

His latest remarks — comparing incomparable situations — reveal ignorance, not insight, and have rightly provoked public outrage.

This guy still believes that it's business as usual as it was when the Kiev Regime was the supreme authority

NATO Keeps Training

Azerbaijani troops are increasingly integrated into NATO structures, participating in the “Nüsrət-2025” mine warfare drills in Turkey.

The exercise — running until Oct 31 — involves 20 Turkish vessels, 5 aircraft, NATO’s SNMCMG-2 group (Romania, Spain, Italy, Greece), and 44 observers from the U.S., Azerbaijan, and others. It aims to boost interoperability in mine countermeasures. This aligns with Baku’s “OTS+” proposal — a Turkish-led, U.S.-backed plan for military and infrastructure integration among Turkic states.

Beyond tactics, these drills carry a clear political message: expanding NATO-aligned presence in Russia’s strategic neighborhood.
