One thing is sure - some things we have to work for.

Work as if no prayer helps; pray as if no work is enough.

Take care, you evil and wrathful spirits. God may ordain that in swallowing you may choke to death.

We men are wretched things.
Give us strength to face all danger,
And where challenge is, to dare.
Any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.
what a helluva way to die
my judgement is lousy, but my hands are steady
The God of war is impartial: he hands out death to the man who hands out death.
Still, we will let all this be a thing of the past, though it hurts us, and beat down by constraint the anger that rises inside us. Now I am making an end of my anger. It does not become me, unrelentingly to rage on.

On understanding mental prowess and the soul of man:

"Have you ever considered the fact that you may be wrong?" Is the most powerful and underused question. A person who is a person, and not a subhuman, would be capable of answering truthfully - that they may be wrong and that they're willing to consider it. Though in this self-critique, always be confident and show confidence. Be confident that God made you faulty and capable of making mistakes. And understand that there is no shame in being wrong every once in a while.

Only subhumans lack the foresight and self-awareness to consider themselves wrong.

Painting by Antonio Gisbert

"Sola dosis facit venenum."
When you're sitting at a 3 AM red light and nobody's coming, there's a little thrill in running that light. It's a reminder that nobody's watching, the Mad God isn't coming: There's just us, and our choices. Even if, in the morning, somebody has to be blamed.
