= The decision to return Yonatan Hailo to prison reveals the state's failed handling of prisoner rehabilitation: responsibility that falls between two government ministries, a lack of professionals and a meager budget of less than NIS 40 million, which sometimes does not allow for even minimal assistance • The result: about 80% of the prisoners The former return to the scene of the crime within three years

According to data released by Palestinian human rights organizations and other relevant institutions, as of the end of May 2022, there were 4,700 Palestinian detainees—including 32 women and 170 children—held in IPS facilities. 640 are treated as administrative detainees, including two women and a child https://perma.cc/JP3V-BYS4

While international humanitarian law permits administrative detention as a temporary and exceptional measure, Israel’s expansive use of this form of internment in year 50 of the occupation raises important due process concerns https://perma.cc/CAW8-Z7Y3

Israel’s closure policy blocks most Gaza residents from going to the West Bank, preventing professionals, artists, athletes, students, and others from pursuing opportunities within Palestine and from traveling abroad via Israel, restricting their rights to work and an education. Restrictive Egyptian policies at its Rafah crossing with Gaza, including unnecessary delays and mistreatment of travelers, have exacerbated the closure’s harm to human rights https://perma.cc/5DJ2-947X

Why are so many Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails? https://perma.cc/89Z6-YZNK

The European Union has expressed serious concern over the plight of these prisoners and has called on Israel to improve conditions and abide by its international human rights obligations. The EU's position should be backed by concrete policy actions.

While the United Nations and other international bodies have condemned Israel's systematic ill-treatment of Palestinian ... The European Union has expressed its concern, but action is now required.
Amnesty International said today. Khader Adnan died in Israel’s Ramle prison on 2 May, after spending 87 days on hunger strike in protest at the Israeli authorities’ systematic arbitrary detention of Palestinians and cruel and inhumane treatment of prisoners. Palestinian detainees frequently use hunger strikes to challenge such policies, risking their health and lives in order to demand the rights that Israel denies them https://perma.cc/77RG-R842

Israel authorities have claimed that Khader Adnan refused to undergo medical treatment. However, a doctor who visited him during his hunger strike told Amnesty International that authorities had denied him access to the independent specialized medical treatment and monitoring he needed.

Israel’s military occupation has morphed the entire occupied Palestinian territory into an open-air prison, where Palestinians are constantly confined, surveilled and disciplined,” a UN expert said today https://perma.cc/4BT2-CF6F
Al-Haq takes the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners’ Day to highlight the ongoing violations faced by the over 10,000 Palestinian prisoners currently detained by Israel. Of these prisoners, approximately 125 are women and 400 are children, while an estimated 780 are individuals detained under administrative detention https://perma.cc/2NFN-JQWT

Currently, there were 5,000 Palestinians in Israeli prisons, including 160 children, and approximately 1,100 of them were detained without charge or trial https://perma.cc/VD5D-RJV8

The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies monitored the increase in arrests in 2021 and indicated that it had been the highest for 18 years. Just one of MANY WAR CRIMES done by ISRAEL against NATURE and ANIMALS!

More than 80 animals died when a zoo in northern Gaza was severely damaged by air strikes. An emergency team by FOUR PAWS managed to get there and help the 20 surviving animals. Dr. Amir Khalil and his team delivered urgently needed medicine and food. Luckily, FOUR PAWS was able to close down the zoo https://perma.cc/H2DP-UKM4

The area experienced frequent Israeli bombings; Hamad was only able to visit the animals when a 72-hour ceasefire came into effect on August 5. “More than half of the animals were killed, most of them by shrapnel, and I think some birds died of thirst,” Hamad said https://perma.cc/HW2T-HR97

Israel is a poor Innocent country @IsraelInnocent ...

Well, if you consider a 30% of child sexually abuse ok, then we have a problem with what "innocent" means ...

While 31% of the female study population experienced some form of CSA, 6% experienced exhibitionism only. Fondling was the most common activity (19%) followed by exhibitionism (9%), attempted intercourse (6%), and oral-genital contact (3%). Two percent reported having intercourse unwillingly.

Sixteen percent of males experienced CSA while 1% reported exhibitionism only. Similar to females, fondling was the most common activity (10%) followed by exhibitionism (3%), attempted intercourse (3%), and intercourse (2%). Oral-genital contact was reported by 1%.

Fifty-nine percent of the subjects experienced the sexual abuse once, 37% experienced the abuse 2 to 6 times, while 4% experienced the abuse more than 6 times. Patterns were similar for men and women.

The mean age at which CSA began varied between 9.6 years for exhibitionism among males to 14.1 years for attempted intercourse in female victims. The overall mean age was similar for male and female victims.

Adult male strangers were the most common perpetrators followed by adult male neighbors or family friends and adult male relatives. Forty-five percent of the perpetrators were known to the victim. Twenty-six percent of the female victims experienced intra-family abuse in comparison to 7% of the male victims.

Similar to other studies carried out in Western countries (Finkelhor, 1994), our Israeli sample reported a high prevalence of CSA, 31% for females and 16% for males.

A REVIEW OF prevalence studies of CSA in 21 countries found rates ranging from 7% to 36% for women and 3% to 29% for men (Finkelhor, 1994).

The high prevalence rate reported in this Israeli study suggests that child sexual abuse is NOT rare in this country.

When there are more hospitalizations in the 20% of arab 🇮🇱 population, compared to the others ...

As displayed in Table 1, age distribution varied within each comparison group with persons aged 15–44 years constituting the vast majority of violence-related casual- ties in all ethnic groups while the percentage was significantly greater among IBE (85%) and AI (79%) compared to IBFSU (71%) and AOI (69%). Males constituted the majority of the patients in all ethnic groups, IBE (92%), AI (90%), IBFSU (86%) and AOI (85%).

Abbreviations: AI-Arab Israelis, IBE- Israelis Born in Ethiopia, IBFSU-Israelis Born in former Soviet Union, AOI-All other Israelis.

The populations significantly varied by place and time of injury event; with IBE having highest rates for injuries sustained on the street/road (58, 47, 54, 46% respectively for IBE, AI, IBFSU and AOI) and for injuries occurring during the weekend/weeknight (83, 75, 71 and 71% respectively for IBE, AI, IBFSU and AOI), see Table 1.

As shown in Fig. 2, the distribution by the violence mechanism revealed a significantly greater proportion of injuries from firearms among AI (23%) in comparison to IBE (2%), IBFSU (3%) and AOI (8%).

Penetrating injuries were significantly more prevalent among AI (57%) compared with the other ethnic groups (38–46%).

IBE had a significantly higher rate of admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) following violence-related injuries compared to the other ethnic groups (19% com- pared with 9–11%, respectively for IBE and other groups). IBE and AI had higher rates of being treated in the trauma resuscitation unit (41% for IBE and AI, compared with 33% for IBFSU and AOI, each).

Conclusion: In comparison to the general Israeli population, the three minority groups studied, IBE, AI and IBFSU appear to be disproportionately affected by violence-related injuries, as demonstrated by the greater proportion of IBE, AI and IBFSU casualties from the overall violence casualties than their respective share in the general Israeli population.
Under a coalition government made up of a broad range of political parties and with Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid as prime ministers, Israeli authorities doubled down on their severe repression of Palestinians. Israeli authorities’ practices, undertaken as part of a policy to maintain the domination of Jewish Israelis over Palestinians, amount to the crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution.

As of December 31, Israeli authorities also held, according to Israeli Prison Services figures, 866 Palestinians in administrative detention without charge or trial based on secret evidence. This figure represents a nearly two-decade-high, according to the Israeli rights group B’Tselem https://perma.cc/VBA6-SKLD
