An open letter to my frens who celebrate Halloween:

Children are trafficked for many reasons--not just sex and labor. One of the most horrific ways kids are bought and sold is for ritual abuse and child sacrifice--which take place throughout the year but particularly tonight on Halloween.

In my work to stop child trafficking I've met women and men who've been trafficked this way and on this night. Their stories are real and tragic. And they are the ones who lived through it. Not all do--nor are they intended to.

That's why I don't celebrate Halloween or participate in it even in its sanitized version. There is nothing that can sanitize the fundamental focus of Halloween, which is to ritually abuse and sacrifice children as worship to Satan.

If we're against child trafficking, we must be against it in all its horrid forms. I thought you'd want to know about this one.

Chief Justice John Roberts on Tuesday put a temporary hold on the handover of former President Donald Trump's tax returns to a congressional committee.

Roberts' order gives the Supreme Court time to weigh the legal issues in Trump's emergency appeal to the high court, filed Monday.

Without court intervention, the tax returns could have been provided as early as Thursday by the Treasury Department to the Democratic-controlled House Ways and Means Committee.
