The Romans would use shows in the colosseum to keep the masses entertained/distracted. In doing this they were able to prolong their governmental systems through preventing civil unrest

Satan is THE master of distraction. If the enemy can’t destroy you he will distract you. When we allow worldly things to consume our lives we drift from God. God says “draw near to me and I will draw near to you”
