State School Superintendent Richard Woods is firmly opposed to the inclusion of Critical Race Theory and other divisive concepts in Georgia’s public schools. Furthermore, attempts to promote or push these ideologies in Georgia schools are illegal under the Protect Students First Act signed into law in 2022.
 
We are in communication with both school districts explicitly mentioned to verify whether the information in the video is accurate, and are working to ensure these materials have not been adopted in other districts. We will direct any district using these materials to discontinue their use.
 
In addition to these efforts, parents should be aware that HB 1084, the Protect Students First Act, establishes a complaint resolution process that parents, students, or educators/personnel can follow to report a violation. We encourage parents to follow this process to report violations of the Protect Students First Act.

DeSantis signs a bill that extends COVID protections for health care providers to June 2023

The law (SB 7014) addresses lawsuits involving issues such as transmission of COVID-19 and treatment of people with COVID-19.

Health care providers can still face COVID-19 lawsuits. But the legal protections, for example, require a higher standard of proof for plaintiffs. In such cases, plaintiffs have to prove “by the greater weight of the evidence that the health care provider was grossly negligent or engaged in intentional misconduct.”

Also, health care providers are shielded from lawsuits if they can offer “affirmative” defenses, such as compliance with government-issued health standards.

The context suggests Florida has had so many frivolous lawsuits..however, let’s see if this continues past June 2023
