A three-meter-tall monument to Archangel Michael was unveiled in Pechory, December 25. The opening ceremony was attended by Governor of the Pskov Region Mikhail Vedernikov, Metropolitan of Crimea and Simferopol Tikhon and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party
“Today we are opening the almost completed center of our beloved city of Pechora. Today on Mikhailovskaya Square (although it used to be called Oktyabrskaya) we are unveiling a monument to Archangel Michael. We know that we have the Archangel Church, built in honor of the victory over the French,” Metropolitan Tikhon spoke.
He called the author of the project – sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov – a world-famous creator.
“Archangel Michael was especially revered by the sculptor. This is his last lifetime work,” added Metropolitan Tikhon.
