When a newsworthy event happens, like a plane crash, an invasion of a country or an assassination of a head of state, do people open Gab as quickly as possible to see what's happening?

Do they go to Truth Social or Gettr? Certainly not.

Telegram? Only if the newsworthy situation is in Eastern Europe.

When people want to see current takes (whether accurate or not) about a breaking news story, they turn to Twitter.

I simulpost on Gab and Truth social, but I almost never scroll the timelines. And when I do scroll, I never feel that I've learned anything by doing so.
