POWERFUL… When I was “pro-choice” I didn’t know what an abortion actually was, medical or surgical. I’ll never forget the moment in San Francisco when I watched a few abortion videos online and called my mom in tears.

It is my firm belief that many women who support abortion would never again call themselves “pro-choice” if they knew what an abortion actually was as well as how incredibly miraculous and fascinating the development of a baby is in the womb. You can detect a heartbeat as early as 5 weeks! I remember my daughter’s first ultrasound. She was only 7 weeks gestation and her heart was beating so quickly as she swirled around in my uterus. She was just as precious & worthy then as she is today.

I know you’ve been programmed to believe that a woman deserves the “choice.” You’ve been told your whole life that it’s a woman’s “right” to do with her body as she pleases.

I couldn’t agree more. Of course a woman deserves the chance to choose when to have a baby.

But there’s one major flaw with this.

There’s always been a limit to our bodily autonomy. You can’t just do whatever you want, hence laws that prohibit rape, murder, theft, etc. When your expression of bodily autonomy harms or kills another human—no matter how small they are, their location, their stage of development, what they look like—you lose your right to it.

Consenting to sex is consenting to the possibility of pregnancy. Denying that is like saying, “I consented to smoking, not lung cancer” or “I consented to eating junk food, not obesity.” If you’re truly not ready to even entertain the idea of having children yet, you have the bodily autonomy to make that choice. We can choose to learn about our cycles, use contraception, or—gasp!—not have sex.

The widespread depravity of our society has taught women that our choices have no consequences and that children are disposable, especially if they’re poor or unwanted.

Abortion is the most anti-woman platform we’ve ever been served. It’s a topic I shied away from talking about for YEARS out of fear. But today I am unapologetically pro-women, pro-baby, ANTI-ABORTION. Women deserve more—as do our children.
