‏عجبا لأمر المؤمن إن أمره كله له خير، وليس ذلك لأحد إلا للمؤمن ‏:‏ إن أصابته سراء شكر فكان خيراً له، وإن أصابته ضراء صبر فكان خيراً له

How wonderful is the case of a believer; there is good for him in everything and this applies only to a believer. If prosperity attends him, he expresses gratitude to Allah and that is good for him; and if adversity befalls him, he endures it patiently and that is better for him.

We accept and are pleased with the Qadr of Allah. We ask Allah to make us of the sincere, and place Barakah in our Da’wah.

A Message to the Influencers

Quoted from a sister:

The Niqāb I cling to with my life, that I’ve been mocked, harassed, filmed, photographed, verbally abused, alienated, and backbit because of, is not an aesthetic for your social media, nor is it your little mask for anonymity.

It’s not for you to wear with flower crowns on your head and twirl around in. It’s not for you to use to sexualize and bring attention your eyes with. It’s not for you to attract an audience with. It’s not a part time replacement for a COVID mask. It’s not an exotic outfit accessory.

It’s an act of worship. It’s an identity to be recognized as a free, Muslim woman. It’s an emulation of my beloved mothers, the wives of my beloved Messenger ﷺ. It’s a protection from the gazes of the wolves of mankind. It is my heart and soul. My armor. My protection. My identity.

My heart writhes in pain at seeing how it has been misused to the point that its no longer serves any connection towards piety and concealment. My tongue doesn’t have the words to express my grief and anger.

For some sisters around the world, Niqāb is a matter of Deen and of life and death, and death is preferable to them than being exposed. And for others, Niqāb is a cute social media prop and an exotic way to stay anonymous online.

The life of this dunya is difficulty upon difficulty, hardship upon hardship. When one catastrophe goes up another one shows up. That’s all I can tell you about this life. Testing and hardship, frustration, disappointment, sadness, heart-break, madness and so on - life is full of it. But the believer faces it all with patience and with the hope of paradise. You have to be patient or you’re not going anywhere. You lose it in this life and the next. There is no sadness, tiredness, fatigue or trials and tribulations in paradise. Pure uncontaminated happiness.

Mahr Upfront or Deferred - Which is Preferable?

"You don't have to give a woman her dowry when you initially get married. You don't have to specify it. However, the Prophet ﷺ always — with all his wives — gave the dowry right upfront, before he had any relationship with her, and during the time the 'Aqd (contract) was made. Who knows why? Although you don't have to do it, the Prophet ﷺ did that. He always gave his dowry beforehand. To show that its the best, and all the Sahabah followed in his footsteps. All the Sahabah. Meaning, you get married and say "I want a diamond ring", you don't say "Oh okay, I'll give it to you three weeks after our marriage". You give it to her right before, right when the ceremony is going on over here, you give it to her. Why? That's the best thing and that's how it should happen."

"She taught us Wala’ and Bara’ before even knowing the term for it. Most immigrants strive to assimilate when they immigrate and take measures to blend in, but Mama took measures to stick out and she made sure that we knew that we were different and that we were proud of it. She didn’t teach us the respectful English term “non-Muslim” nor did she teach us about tolerance of Shirk and Kufr and it’s people. She rooted in our hearts hatred for all those who belied Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, and she termed them what translates into English as “devilish people”. So much so, that our common term to refer to anyone who wasn’t Muslim in everyday conversations was “Shaytan people”, and we stuck to that firmly as children, saying things like, “Mama, that Shaytan lady came to me and said this” or “A Shaytan man is standing behind me” etc. We always knew that as Muslims, we were superior to all others and favored by Allah above mankind.

She didn’t teach us that we were “American”, in fact, we saw that label as an insult. When other defeatists would say to us “be proud, you’re an American!” she would interject, saying “No, they’re Muslims” and we would always reply indignantly that we were indeed Muslims. And if there was a necessity to use the term, she would always caution us, saying “don’t say what these people say, that you’re an 'American Muslim', but rather say you’re a 'Muslim American' because Islam is your first identity and the most important one”. She made sure that we never had pride over a country that waged war on our religion and our people. Our loyalty was to Islam and the Muslims and no one else.

She instilled a strong Islamic identity, and not only an identity, but great pride in that identity as well. While the other Muslim children were insecure and tried to change and erase their differences, Mama made sure that we we strove to maintain a difference with the Kuffar in everything we did."

In an old Q&A from before prison, Shaykh Musa Jibril (حفظه الله) was asked about men looking at women, and he replied:

"Looking at women, this is a big sin.

فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِي فِي قَلْبِهِ مَرَضٌ

(lest he in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire)

We don't look at women. Of course, before I answer that - the women, they are supposed to cover their face. Their hair. Everything. The women are supposed to be just like a crow. And Islamically, the women are supposed to look dark, you don't recognize the women..."

May Allah preserve our dear Shaykh and his family and grant him a long, healthy life full of good deeds.

A Muslim that doesn’t pray at night, Wallāhī, that’s hard to believe because we got our trials and tribulations in this life. We have our problems and miseries. If you don’t pray at the end of the night… what kind of Muslim are you?

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم tells ibn ‘Umar:

نِعم الرجل إبن عمر [نِعْمَ الرَّجلُ عبدُ اللَّهِ لَو كانَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ]
Glory to ibn ‘Umar, great man if he gets up at night and prays. He’s not good, unless he gets up at night and prays.

Get up at night and shed those tears for Allāh! Those tears could be a shield from Hell for you on the Judgement Day.

"Seldom do people realize that loneliness is a blessing from Allāh, reminding one to seek refuge in His companionship alone for comfort.

The sooner one recognizes this, the sweeter and easier the isolation becomes.

“The Hijāb means the woman must cover her body. It's not right to wear blue jeans and then something on the top of her head. That's not a Hijāb! That's not a Hijāb! She wears something and everyone can see it (the shape). That's not a Hijāb! To put something on the top of her head [only], that's not a Hijāb. Hijāb is to cover your body from the evil eyes we have. We have wolf people around. That's a Hijāb. Hijāb is to cover, that's according to my knowledge and according to Islām, you must cover all your body, and the face too. Islamically that's the way. You gotta be like a crow, like a black bird. You're not to be recognized if you walk in the street. But to put some clothes on, some stuff right here, you know, everything is showing, that's not a Hijāb, to be honest with you. That's not a Hijāb. Or your hair is showing, or your chest is showing, or your leg is showing. That's not a Hijāb. You have to cover all your body according to Islām. That's the way it should be.”

We were informed by Abu Bakr Al-Marwūtdhī, Sulaymān Al-‘Ash’ath, and Ahmad Ibn Asram Al-Muzani - and the following wording is for Sulaymān, He said: I said to Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, “Can we pray behind the Murji’a?”

He (Imām Ahmad) said: “If he was a caller to it (Irjā’), he is not to be prayed behind.”

“The Murji’ee who debates/argues [with people in favor of Irjā’], isn’t prayed behind.”

Being tested with sadness in Dunya

Malik Ibn Dinar (رحمه الله) said:

I saw Al-Hasan (رضي الله عنه) in my dream after his death. He was happy and he was glowing white and his tears shone when they flowed.

I asked: “Are you not dead?” He replied in the affirmative.

I added: “What have you attained after death, for indeed you spent much time in sadness on earth?”

He replied: “Allāh has removed sadness from us and has guided to the abodes of the pious (manāzil al-abrār). He has made lawful for us the houses of the righteous (masākin al-muttaqqeen). By Allāh! This is only because of Allāh’s favour upon us.”

I said: “What do you command us to do, O Abu Sa'īd?”

He replied: “I wish people would prolong their sadness in the worldly life such that they have happiness in the Hereafter.”
