We don't ask Allah for trials, but once they're over, one can't help but miss the sweetness of 'Ibadah that was tasted in their duration. The best reward of being afflicted with difficulty is the unwavering Tawakkul that one develops through it and the Du'aas that escape from the depths of your soul in the dark abyss of the night.

When the dark waves of trials come crashing down on you, don't struggle against them and fight to reach the surface. Accept the decree of your Lord. Dive deeper and find the pearl of contentment and Yaqeen. The waves haven't been sent to destroy you, but rather to force you to dive deeper and find a valuable treasure worth more than the world and everything it contains.

In the belly of trials, let your greatest motivation for Sabr be the oath you took to cling to it when difficulties first swallowed you:

سَتَجِدُنِىٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ

“You will find me, if Allah wills, of the patient [ones]."

Prove yourself to Allāh.

At the start of affliction, raise your hands to Allāh and say “I swear by Your Might, O Rabb, You’re going to find me amongst the patient. I swear by Your Honor, no one will hear my complaints except You.” and watch how Allāh aids you and pours upon you patience.

We’ve had sisters reach out to us in the past regarding their negative experiences with free mixed universities (in terms of Fitnah and falling into Harām or doubts) and the harmful effects it has/had on their Deen/‘Aqeedah and chastity. Many sisters attended in the past, some are attending by force, and some are attending due to ignorance. Regardless of your situation, if you have anything to contribute, you can insha’Allah:

For the sake of a Da’wah project, we request that you all share your experiences (or experiences of others you know of/saw firsthand) with us again, in an effort to make people aware of the reality of coeducational (free-mixed) education. You can use the question box or send it in via DM. All submissions will be kept anonymous of course, and you can request to have certain parts be kept private or shared a certain way etc. The submissions will be used as part of a Da’wah project insha’Allah. They will not be posted here (on the story).

Please share insha’Allah. We ask Allāh سبحانه وتعالى, that every brother or sister who shares this story around (so we can reach a wider audience) gets an equal share of ‘Ajr in the project.

There’s a phenomenon on social media of those who claim to be doing Da’wah to sisters, but the reality is that their posts are simply catered towards gratifying men. Sisters who over indulge in talking about topics such as marriage and polygyny, in ways that are rooted in emotion (not speaking from a strict standpoint of proof), and specifically appealing to or in agreement with the sentiments many men have, are a red flag, and this needs to be explained:

The problem isn’t in the topics discussed or their opinions on them in and of itself (in fact, they may even be correct). What’s being referred to here is women who constantly go out of their way to give an impression of a submissive, feminine, agreeable woman through their style of discussion and the way they address the topics they post. There’s always an undertone of “romanticizing” or idealizing men, for lack of a better terms, and portraying themselves as “the ideal Muslim woman/wife”. There’s also a common theme of trying to be “relatable” to men, while bashing women (for things that don’t call for being bashed). This, in turn, garners a lot of attention from men to her page. You find the more she posts, the more her comments are flooded with brothers. Often times, one will even see that a post is entirely void of benefit, it’s just emotional commentary that attracts attention and at times, even explicitly encourages men to interact.

Women like this, either they’re very very naive to what they’re doing (hard to believe, but benefit of the doubt), or their intentions are compromised, and we seek refuge in Allāh سبحانه وتعالى from this. Other sisters can easily recognize attention-seeking behavior and intentions, because women know women. The fact of the matter is that most women are not cut out to be on social media. Attention sways women easily — it even sways men, so a woman is more likely to be effected negatively by it. No sister should feel comfortable receiving attention from males, she must ignore it — not entertain and attract it.

We always emphasize these general guidelines:

• If a sister wants to give Da’wah online, she should try and give access of her accounts to others, specifically to Mahrams, and have things monitored by those who can keep her in check

• She should go out of her way to be to-the-point and formal in her speech. No joking, no emojis, no memes, nothing non-beneficial.

• She should strive to not make a show of the fact that she is a woman, remaining anonymous is always better. In fact, one can go as far as to say that one who makes her gender known while giving Da’wah (when she could have hidden it), will definitely come to regret it at some point. This is a fact.

• No talk whatsoever about her personal life or details should be shared online

• She should constantly seek the advice of other righteous sisters on how she conducts herself online

• And most importantly, she should never abandon asking Allāh to preserve her shyness and make her from the Tāhirāt Al-‘Afeefāt. Indeed, loss of shyness is a calamity upon the woman.

If you’re here for Da’wah dear sisters, then let it be for Da’wah strictly. A righteous woman goes out of her way to deflect attention from non-Mahrams and it anguishes her to receive it, it doesn’t please her. Your Da’wah should not be to appease any specific audience nor to please anyone except Allāh. It’s beautiful to see sisters wanting to engage in Da’wah, and it’s even more beautiful to see it done properly, and that’s not to insinuate that many aren’t already doing so, may Allāh bless all our sisters. May Allāh forgive our shortcomings and correct our mistakes.
