"‏مَا نَحَلَ وَالِدٌ وَلَدًا مِنْ نَحْلٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَدَبٍ حَسَنٍ‏"

It’s narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: "There is no gift that a father gives his son more virtuous than good manners."

“A weak Hadīth, but our father would constantly repeat it to us in our early years upon every occasion. We used to whine when he would fixate and be strict on small matters of etiquette such as organizing our shoes outside the Masjid and moving them out of harms way, etc, and he would quote the Hadīth and tell us “this is my job as a father”.

By Allāh, small things like this, you never forget, may Allāh bless him and have mercy on him.

When you meet a person, you don’t just get to know them — you get to know what their parents deemed as important in their upbringing.

May Allāh سبحانه وتعالى have mercy on them as they raised us when we were young…”

What is the ruling on spreading videos & pictures online which contain Harām in them (Music, Mutabarrijāt, ‘Awrah, etc.)?

“We of course know that music is Harām. And likewise seeing any woman that’s not a Mahram, uncovered [‘awrah showing], is Harām. So if a clip contains any of that, it gives it the overall ruling that it’s Harām. It’s not a permissible clip. It’s not permissible to watch it and it’s not permissible to promote it.

Now, there may be benefits in circulating clips that contain some of that, at times. For example, some clips raising awareness for the Ummah, do have portions of that — because they may be taken out of news clips. So they may have Mutabarrijāt [women committing Tabarruj] in them. Or sometimes it’s for educational purposes. But those benefits, that some claim in promoting such clips, does not outweigh the Harām. Especially when there’s almost always other means to show the good that’s in the clips.

Sometimes it’s possible before promoting and circulating the clip, to mute the portions of it that has music. Or to blacken and darken the faces [of the women], or to blur them out, before circulating it.

Because the rule is: protecting ones Dīn from Harām is given precedent over other such benefits.”
