Narrated by Ibn ‘Umar: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There is a tree among the trees which is similar to a Muslim (in goodness), and that is the date palm tree." [Bukhāri]

In multiple Ahādith, the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ compared the believer to the date palm tree.

Shaykh Ahmad Mūsā Jibrīl حفظه الله provided some benefits explaining this analogy many years ago, saying:

The Prophet (ﷺ) compared a palm tree to believer.

1. One way it resembles is that it’s leaves are firm when it gets windy, like a believer’s faith in hardships.

2. Both need to nourishment to survive; water for the tree; Qur’ān and Sunnah for the believer.

3. A palm tree is a very firmly rooted in the Earth and that's the Īmān of the believer in his heart.

4. The tree does not live everywhere — some places with good fruit, some without fruit, some with sour fruit, like Īmān.

5. Healthy palm trees produce dates throughout the year, like the deeds of a believer going to Allāh.

6. Every single part of a palm tree is used and is useful in someway or another, like a believer.

7. Leaves of a palm tree don't fall, just like the supplication of the believer never goes unanswered!

8. Impurities around tree need to be maintained as it's growing, otherwise it dies — like Tawheed.

“Knowledge is the foundation of this nation, the nation of Muhammad (ﷺ) is an educated and literate nation. Destruction befalls this Ummah when it’s people let dust accumulate on the books and abandoned the true scholars of Tawheed! That’s why it is paramount that women seek knowledge, otherwise, their children become ignorant as they too are ignorant of the religion and it’s rulings. Men should seek to marry women of knowledge, and women should strive to acquire the knowledge and impart it to the next generation.”

Praising a Muslim to his face is disliked if it’s assumed that it will effect his intention, however, praising him behind his back is not problematic, provided the praise is true of course. This is even more so the case when the praise is intended to bring attention to the virtues of an ‘Ālim and to encourage people to benefit from him.

This is intended to defend against some new slander upon our Shaykh Ahmad on certain platforms. Some fools are claiming that the Shaykh approves and even encourages the praise of him that is retweeted/posted on his official social media accounts.

First off, it’s clearly spelled out on every official account of the Shaykh’s that the accounts are run by students. Obviously, if the Shaykh appoints someone to run an account, it’s a student he highly trusts, so he doesn’t have to constantly check over every little thing to approve. If a student doesn’t praise and hold his teacher in the high regard that he’s deserving of, who will?

Second off, the Shaykh reiterates in almost every conversation regarding something to do with social media/online Da’wah that he DOES NOT browse social media or have accounts on it, for certain reasons, one being that he doesn’t have time for it.

Third off, anyone who knows the Shaykh will attest to his humility and dislike of praise. When we created the poster for the up and coming Furū’ Al-Fiqh class when it was first announced, we sent it to the Shaykh to get his opinion and to have it shared on his official accounts. After expressing thanks and approval of the poster, he conditioned that in order to forward it to his students to post, he wanted us to remove the word “Shaykh” before his name, expressing that he didn’t like the noscript, and that he can’t really do anything about it being used in the handles of his social medias as his students are the ones who create and manage the pages and they do that while knowing how he feels about it. Despite that, we could never do such disrespect to our Shaykh, so we sent it to his students directly and they shared it on the official accounts Alhamdulillah. That’s just one example out of tens that anyone could share regarding his humility,اللهم بارك له.

Anyone who has an issue with noscripts like “Imām of the West” is simply ignorant about the effect that the Shaykh’s work has had on the ground and in the hearts, or he is ignorant about the situation of the Da’wah scene in the West. Or the more common case: he’s jealous. Even the think tanks of the Kuffār have noted that his Tawheed series has been the most influential one on the book to date worldwide and they cite his work and his name in every document regarding Islāmism and Salafism in the West. You have no problem calling a random Hāfidh in a Masjid “Imām”, but have reservations about that noscript for someone who has studied under probably all the biggest and most knowledgeable scholars of his era in the Jazeerah and suffered and continues to suffer for the sake of spreading the Deen? You see his Tazkiyyah from Ibn Bāz and remain stunned and speechless? You should know that’s one of multiple Tazkiyyāt he’s received from big names, but he’s too humble to make them public. That one was made public years ago without his permission if I’m not mistaken.

“The Shaykh wouldn’t feel comfortable with all this praise”— of course he wouldn’t. He doesn’t even like the noscript “Shaykh”, but that doesn’t mean we’re gonna stop calling him that. Nobody likes to be praised to their face (unless you’re conceited), it would make anyone uncomfortable. That’s what humility is. But that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to praise someone behind their back, especially when they deserve it and it’s true. And as a student, if you don’t know the status of your own Shaykh, that’s your first failure in spreading his Da’wah. And if there’s one thing our Shaykh taught us since the beginning, it’s that students are usually the biggest factor in the failure and erasure of their teachers name and works.

Our praise of him and Shaykh Mūsā is intended to make others aware of their statuses and to encourage others to take advantage and benefit from them while they have the chance.

Unfortunately, most people only realize the status of ‘Ulamā’ once they lose them, Allāh forbid. Let us not make the same mistake. May Allāh preserve the Shaykhayn and lengthen their lives in goodness.

15 years ago, on this day, I lost my mother while in prison. Everyday since then, the feeling is as fresh as if it just happened today.

May Allah have mercy on her, forgive her, and grant her and all your parents ferdous.

Be dutiful to your parents, and cherish every moment with them because ⬇️

“Parents are like your eyes, you will never see the world beautiful after the loss of one or both of them!

‎May Allah raise my mother’s rank to ferdous.”

Claiming to do, to have done, or to want something for the sake of Allāh and to please him is not a claim that’s proven easily — nor will it be left without being proven.

Lofty claims demand strenuous tests. Everything you claim will be tested, this Deen doesn’t accept lip service.

The end result will be beyond worth it, but many never make it through the storms. We only ask that Allāh سبحانه وتعالى grants us steadfastness.
