Insecurities Worth Having
In conversations about physical insecurities with sisters, one often gets annoyed with the over-analyzation sisters indulge in about their appearances and the level of complaining and ingratitude that’s displayed over Allāh’s blessings. But let’s be honest, there are some features that really are worthy of being insecure about. It’s important that we list them so that sisters can work on remedying the appearance of such ugliness! Some of the worst but most normalized ones:
1. A nose that’s in everyone’s business, poking itself in places it’s not wanted nor supposed to be.
2. A mouth that backbites and through which gossip spreads, that speaks obscenities and is constantly engaged in Qīl wa Qāl (ex: “so and so said and I heard such and such”)
3. Eyes that remain shut throughout the entire night, and never awaken for Qiyām Al-Layl.
4. Skin that isn’t cleansed often with Wudū, and that doesn’t touch the floor in prostration for both Fard and Nawāfil Salawāt.
5. Fingers that aren’t used to keep count of Dhikr.
6. Hands that harm and oppress others.
7. Ears that eavesdrop and listen to that which they are forbidden to hear, such as music and backbiting.
8. A figure that is displayed and distinguishable to those who are forbidden to see it.
9. And a head that doesn’t lower with shyness in the presence of Non-Mahram men.
Let’s set the beauty standards straight, sisters. It’s about time Muslimāt start obsessing with the shortcomings in their Deen and Adab the way they do over their physical appearances. Imagine how much better the state of our graves and hereafter would be if we focused on polishing and perfecting the souls which will be judged before Allāh instead of the bodies that will decay and become one with the dust.
May Allāh سبحانه وتعالى forgive our shortcomings and grant us the ability to rectify our states.

Pitter and patter
In the last third of the night
Pouring torrents,
A breathtaking sight
Lightning and thunder,
Signs of His Might
The bedrooms are dark,
But the hearts are alight
Tearful supplications,
To be guided aright
Cheeks are soaked,
Like the earth outside
Īmān swelling,
As if the high tide
If the skies weep in His fear,
My eyes shall do the same
May the sins be washed away,
In the Ramadān rains
In the last third of the night
Pouring torrents,
A breathtaking sight
Lightning and thunder,
Signs of His Might
The bedrooms are dark,
But the hearts are alight
Tearful supplications,
To be guided aright

“We used to be young.
We used to pray behind the Imām and wonder at the long prostrations.
Then the years passed by us, stealing our innocence along with them. Life levied upon us its trials and we began to shoulder our Deen on our backs.
We grew.
We grew until we began to lead the people in prayer, and became surprised to hear them shifting around in discomfort during the prostration.
How naive of Life is the one who doesn’t yearn for the prostrations to be prolonged. The days passed, and we too, passed from such a state to another…”

Taking Compensation for Da'wah 🚩🚩🚩
"Another example is Jihād. If his intention is to go to Jihād and return with some booty, the reward is detracted. Allāh سبحانه وتعالى gave him a right in the booty, but Allāh سبحانه وتعالى also diminishes the reward for taking it. There’s a Hadīth specifically establishing that as it pertains to a Mujāhid, and it establishes this concept, that the reward is detracted in such scenarios.
The Messenger ﷺ said, “Any troop of soldiers who go to fight for the sake of Allāh سبحانه وتعالى and get a share of the booty will receive two-thirds of their reward in advance. One-third of their reward will be what remains to their credit in the Ākhirah. If they don’t receive any booty they get their full, complete reward.” [Muslim]
And aside from what we used the Hadīth for here, that Hadīth is a horrific Hadīth for those who claim to do Da’wah for the sake of Allāh سبحانه وتعالى and then charge for seminars, books, counseling, Fatāwā, or to access their sites or access their ‘Ilm — if they have any ‘Ilm. A Mujāhid’s intention is usually among the most sincere, because he’s leaving the comfort of his home, he’s leaving his family, he’s facing nothing but hardships, fear, and trials, and more so, he’s putting his life on the line for the sake of Allāh سبحانه وتعالى, yet two-thirds of the reward is diminished for taking what Allāh سبحانه وتعالى allowed him to take. One is in the comfort of his home and Masjid, and he hears praise day and night, he may get a big ego, and there’s the temptation of attaining followers and fame, so one always needs to work on his Niyyah pertaining to that — yet he takes compensation, or worse than that, requires compensation for acts that Messengers said,
We don’t take any benefit or any reward. The point is, if the Mujāhid, with all that he faces, gets his reward diminished by two-thirds for taking booty, what would be left for Dā’iyyah who struggles with his Niyyah day and night, sitting in the comfort of his house, accepting payments and benefits, and worse than that, at times requiring payments for his Da’wah? And that's not even getting into the issue of whether that’s permissible or not."
