Q. After my menses was over i took ghusul then started fasting but a brown discharge came out does this mean my menses is not finished yet and my fast is broken??

A. No, if the brown discharge came after your menses was over it does not invalidate the fast as it’s not considered to be part of your menstrual cycle. You should observe fasting and offer prayer like normal.

Umm ‘Aatiyyah (May Allah be pleased with her) said, We did not consider the yellowish and brownish discharge which appeared after becoming pure as anything.

Trials
|
Shaykh Musa Jibril

“Trials and tribulations are a means of purification for you. Successful are the ones who rely solely upon their Lord and remain steadfast and patient. Whatever Allah decrees for the believer... it is ALWAYS better for him. If the unseen was to be unveiled you would love what Allah has decreed for you.”

The people who catastrophe befalls upon them are of four categories:

1. The indignation people - those who get mad

The people who feel in their hearts as though Allāh has oppressed them, persecuted them, intimidated them, hurt them and so on. They question why the trial fell upon them.

Some of these people take it further, not only do they believe this in their hearts but they also express it on their tongues and limbs i.e., saying Allāh was unjust to them.

Certainly they are in clear error and they lack knowledge of their Lord the Almighty. Leading them to hit their heads and tear their clothes!

2. The patient people

Those who bare patiently. They do not say anything, it’s as though nothing has happened to them. They know Allāh is with them, they know the infliction is by Allāh, so they await the reward from Allāh in this life and the next.

“Be patient & enter paradise with no questions asked!”

3. The people [who] are content and happy with it.

They are content with what happened and what’s happening.

Not only is this category of people content with it but they are even happy with it, because they know their reward is from Allāh and He is the one taking care of all their affairs!

4. This is the best category! Not only do they bare patiently, not only are they content & happy, but they take it a step further and thank Allāh for it and show gratitude.

They know whatever touches them is from a loving Lord, they know there’s only goodness from it, whatever comes from their Lord is only good for them - (some of its fruits you see in this life & most of its fruits in the next).

This is the level of the righteous, the prophets, like the Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and those who follow his excellent example. We should aim to be amongst this category, they will be with the prophets on the day of judgement because this is the way of the righteous slaves of Allāh!

Whenever an infliction touched the prophet he would say الحمد لله على كل حال
“Praise be to Allah under ALL circumstances!” Doesn’t matter what - always praising Allāh.

Remember, the sweetness you taste from your patience upon inflictions and catastrophes on the judgment day will make you forget the bitterness of that which you endured.

Q. If I made Ghusl to purify from my menses and see a little blood straight after, do I need to make ghusl again?

A. If the time of your menses is over and it’s very little, a few drops, then it is not required for you to make ghusl again, your fasting is valid and you can pray too. But you should make wudoo’ for the prayer.

We hear a lot of modern day scholars and du'āt [callers to islām] who compare our current state with the Meccan period. Shaykh Sulaymān Al-'Alwān explains why this saying is false and wrong.

Q. Does the menstrual cycle blood invalidate a woman’s fast?

A. Yes, even if she gets it a moment before iftaar, she needs to make up that day.

If the woman encounters her menses even a moment before iftar, then her fast has been invalidated and she must make up for it later along with the rest of the fasts which she will miss in the holy month of Ramadhan - however, of course she gets rewarded for what she has done - though the compulsory doesn’t drop.

Allah is so generous, anything you do for the sake of Allah, you get rewarded for it! So never despair nor grieve, this is something from your Lord the Almighty.

" فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ
وَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرَّا يَرَهُ "

Whosoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it on the judgment day, and likewise, whosoever does an atom’s weight of evil/bad will see it on the judgement day.

The Week Before Ramadhān
| Shaykh Ahmad Jibril

“The week before Ramadhān is the most crucial week probably... the Shaytān is gonna be shackled... You know what he’s gonna do in this week? When someone’s going to jail and he’s bad, he’s gonna do all the worst things he can imagine, before he goes.”
— Shaykh AMJ

Before Ramadhān comes, do your best to repent from all sins, clean your heart from all grudges towards Muslims, end all disputes and arguments with people, and cut off from everything that will distract you and take away from your focus and worship in the precious moments of Ramadhān. Purify yourself and your surroundings now, so that you can enter Ramadhān in a high and good state of īmān, and reap its rewards and blessings more than ever, in shā Allāh.
