To end the Rights of the Wife Series:
An explanation and reflection on the Hadīth of the 11 women who sat down to talk about their husbands. Many lessons can be drawn from this Hadīth regarding women and their natures, their likes and dislikes, the causes which make them pleased with their husbands and happy in their marriages, desirable qualities in a man for many women, and the manner of our beloved Nabi’ (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in speaking to and dealing with his wife (رضي الله عنها). The denoscriptions of the relatives of Abu Zar' were left out due to lack of space.
Explanation taken from the book “The Fragile Vessels: Rights and Obligations Between the Spouses in Islām”
Insha’Allah, we’ll now move on to the rights of the husband.

وَذَكِّرْهُم بِأَيَّىٰمِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ
“and remind them of the days of Allah. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful.” [Surah Ibrahim]
Sometimes, Allah suddenly grants his slave a whiff of that sweet, pure, true Imaan and Taqwa despite his not being deserving of it nor having strived hard to attain it. And then, out of His perfect wisdom, He snatches it back from him just as suddenly, only to leave him chasing and longing after it for the remainder of his days in this temporary life.
How beautiful are those moments when you stumble across remnants of an old life that serve as memories of some of your best days with your Creator. How beautiful and sweet is that aroma when you abruptly catch a whiff of it again, all these long years later! And how tragic is that realization when your current reality comes crashing down around you straight after, as you're left questioning how far off you've wondered and what you've become since those days departed.
The golden days have disappeared and slipped through the fingers and left us in agony over their departure. It is as if we wander through life only in hopes of catching a whiff of their scent around the next corner, guided solely by our dreams of finding those sweet moments and days once more.
But how kind is our Lord! Just as we begin to slip into the abyss of despair of ever finding the light as we did in those days, we find the ever so faint scent wafting to us from directions we didn't expect. How our determination sparks and our hopes flutter as we sprint after that faint aroma, hoping to be led back into that treasured past!
And so our lives pass, in pursuit of the sweetness of a day or a night we spent with Allah that perhaps no one knows of except Him, but they were moments that we would give up our entire lifetime to bask in the glory of once more.
Truly, there was a Paradise in this life, but moments of carelessness seized it from us. How desperate we have been in our pursuit of it since then! How our determination falters and sparks again in the face of its traces.

"It goes like this: the one who takes drugs is called a druggie, the one who gambles is called a gambler, the one who plays games is called a player, the one who does Zina' is called a Zani, the one who deals in Riba' is called a Riba' consumer (Sooth Khor), the one who gives bribes is called a briber, the one who does Bid'ah is a Mubtadi', the one who does Fisq is a Faasiq, but the one who does Shirk is a Muslim?! The one who does Kufr is a Muslim?!
No! The one who does Shirk is a Mushrik! The one who does Kufr is a Kaafir!"

A powerful excerpt by Shaykh Ahmad Musā Jibrīl, responding to those sell-outs and hypocrites who try to dilute an essential component of The Muslim's creed of Al-Walaa' and Baraa'.

One thing that the people of desires will never be able to shake off, no matter how much they attempt to mask it, is the feeling of unsurety & doubt that plagues their hearts. Regardless of how much they try to refute & debate to appear in the right, those feelings always remain.
As for those upon the Manhaj of the Messenger ﷺ, they have full conviction that they're upon the truth & nothing but the truth. The trials that they face in this path only increase them in that conviction, and their hearts increase in steadfastness despite being tried & mocked.
We never forget the words of our Shaykh Musa (حفظه الله), when he faced the torture in prison, his family abandoned by the world, illness, the illness of his wife, loss of property, loss of nearly everything, every last person he knew nowhere to be found & more & more.
He was asked: Ya Abati, did you ever get doubts in your Iman, or your Iman become weak ever in this trial that we are going through?
He said: Habibi, if this did not happen to us, that is when I would have doubts. If this did not happen to us, that is when I would doubt the path.

Imām Mālik ibn Anas رحمه الله said: "Indeed the wives of the Sahabah sought the Hereafter, so they did not care about the poverty of their husbands." [Sahih Fiqh al-Sunnah 4/403]
The women of the Salaf used say to their husbands:
“Beware of haram earnings, for we can be patient with poverty, but not hellfire.”
Today, many sisters are the ones who pressure their husbands to earn Harām, and encourage them to pursue jobs in which they would have to compromise the Deen of Allāh. May Allāh guide us. Seeking Halāl rizq is one of the most difficult tests for a man, especially in The West. Sisters should be pillars of support, aiding their husbands and encouraging them to give up Harām jobs and seek Halāl rizq, even if that means living on a tight budget or even in poverty.
Going without a couple meals in a day is better than eating your full fill of food provided by Harām means.

Lack of good character & Islāmic manners among those who are claimants to the correct ‘Aqīdah is the major reason that so many marriages don’t last, in turn resulting in the inability to develop & raise solid communities which are crucial for raising the next generation upon Haqq.
Forget marriages and communities, even friendships and simply keeping ties is difficult due to the horrible manners and untrustworthiness among many.
Good character and manners are a heavy, heavy part of faith for a reason. We need to work hard on developing Islāmic manners and perfecting our characters to be in line with the example of The Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in order to properly and successfully spread this ‘Aqīdah and solidify it in our children and society.

To say they raised us would be a grievous understatement actually. These classes served as light in the darkest of times, a source of steadfastness in moments of doubt, a consolation when we were mocked, & a companion for every step of this beautiful and trying journey.
What a blessing!
We’re not recommending a class, but rather a piece of our hearts and souls that serve as memories of every step & struggle in this path. How wretched are those who deprive themselves of such a blessing that lays at the tips of their fingers!

Just as we see today on social media, women who want to encourage our sisters to abandon the traditional Islamic way of covering their faces & start modernizing the Niqāb to fit in with western societies. There’s room to have different versions of covering, as we see all across the Muslim world. In Afghanistan, women wore/wear Burkas, in Bilaad Al Haramayn, overhead Jilbabs, & in North Africa the Hayek. However, all of these variations fit the Shari’ guidelines for how the women must dress & they covered the ‘Awrah properly & were not forms of adornment in and of themselves.
The issue with these influencers is that they dress in ways that are not in line with the Shari’ guidelines from the Qur’an & Sunnah and are influencing & encouraging (directly or indirectly) Muslim women to change their way of covering to fit in with western standards by either uncovering parts of their body that need to be covered, wearing adornments, imitating Kāfir women, or imitating the clothing of men.
We have seen on social media, women who are normalizing wearing Jilbab tops to the knees with some types of pants/trousers underneath. We have seen women who cover their faces & add an elaborate head piece, bandana, or a decorative hat. We have seen women who started a trend of covering the face but leaving the eyebrows & the forehead exposed. We have seen women who cover their faces but expose their hands, & often adorning them with rings, bracelets, & henna. We have seen women who wear Jilbab with tight jackets that reveal their shape over it. We have seen laces, frills, sequins, huge necklaces, jewelry, you name it. Every type of adornment one could imagine, being worn over Jilbabs and Niqabs.
The list goes on and on. All of these things are contrary to the way the Sahabiyaat covered & they often defeat the purpose of covering. Those women who post such pictures should know that they are guiding women to dress incorrectly & influencing them to do haram & make a wanton display of themselves. They are hijacking Niqāb & Jilbab & turning it into something completely western, trendy, & different than the purpose they were obligated for. They will have evil deeds even after their deaths.

It’s saddening how one will find so many sisters who have no care in protecting their hearts from being swayed when it comes to being on social media. Sisters following pages in which young men are constantly posting selfies, jokes, personal talk, etc. Do you truly benefit from their pages, ya Akhawaat?
How much harm it brings, by Allāh! Our young sisters, many unmarried and growing up in filthy societies where all that they are taught from childhood is to be lustful and attract the attention of men, then they get on social media and scroll through a feed full of brothers selfies and personal life mixed with some Da’wah. If this isn’t going to trap her heart and cause deficiency in her Imaan and modesty, what will?
There are plenty of pages that you can benefit from that don’t involve causing you to sin with your gaze and lose your shyness sisters. Unfollow the “selfie brothers”.

The beauty of motherhood used to be in the fact that a woman selflessly gives up everything for the sake of her children. Nowadays, women are upset that motherhood requires so much sacrifice from them. They’re constantly striving to retain everything about their lives from before, while being a mother at the same time, and the result is that they don’t fully immerse and invest themselves into the upbringing and development of their children.
What used to be seen as the most beautiful bond to exist in life is now marketed to young women as a burden and something that she needs to “plan” and put off until she’s enjoyed her life to the fullest. What used to be considered as the most fulfilling and spiritually satisfying occupation a woman could ever hold is now simply a nuisance and an obstacle in the face of her “ambitions”. The qualities we love our mothers for and are eternally grateful to them for (sacrificing their youth, time, and self to fully invest in our upbringing) are qualities we now label as being “toxic”.
The effect of letting women into the workplace and them becoming immersed into capitalism is that women now treat motherhood as if it’s a part time job. Many of them will shamelessly loathe that they’re not being reimbursed for the amount of effort they’re putting into raising their kids! Fulfillment for such a noble cause is expected to be materialistic and no one cares about the hereafter. It’s all about themselves and what they’re gaining or losing and not the spiritual aspect, the Fitra/sense of purpose, or the bigger picture for the Ummah. Individualism is really a curse, its infiltrated every aspect of our lives, even a concept so selfless as motherhood!
