Few decades ago when tuition fees increased, students occupied the university for a period of 38 consecutive days between March 18 and April 24, 1974.

April 7, 1973: American University students occupy the university a day after demonstrations by university and high school students to protest the dismissal of more than 300 male and female teachers.

Unfortunately they didn't dare to do so in 2020 when 1,500 were dismissed.
27 May 1971: American University of Beirut students occupy the university's offices and buildings to protest the 10% increase in tuition fees.

Ongoing protests for the last couple of hours by students against universities that increased tuition fees from an exchange rate of 1$ = 1515 to 1$ = 3900.
Back in the day, the president of AUB was the second most prestigious position after the U.S. ambassador to Lebanon.

Dr Fadlo Khuri dragged this position to murky waters recently.

Earlier this evening a Palestinian threw a molotov directly at an IDF soldier near the entrance of Kdumim. The soldier was was not injured.

The Palestinian was very lucky, but failed to do damage unfortunately.

I remember Sharon loved to gift the Gemayels. After all, the body of the traitor Bachir Al Gemayel was identified through a ring gifted by Ariel Sharon.
