A thread about the recent Druze - Hezbullah issue:

The border villages in general, Sunni, Druze, Christian and Shia, all contribute to the first line of defense of Lebanon against any Israeli invasion and eventually they are part of the resistance plans.

Shwayya, that happens to be a Druze-majority village, was the perfect staging area to reach the intended Israeli target. The rocket-launching operation involved about 8 persons distributed into two groups: one was responsible for the launcher, and the other for its protection.

The group was ordered by Hezbullah to fire 20 rockets, and this is the actual number that was fired. The launcher had more rockets, but they were extra and not intended for launching.

After the operation was done, the truck left the area, unbothered by the IDF.

The IDF lied about the number of rockets fired, which eventually means they likely lied about other numbers.

The video shows 20 rockets launched, but the infographic claims 19.

The details of the assault and aggression by few locals are known. But here are some parts of the longer version of the story and details.

After the car & truck were stopped, the Druze village was split into two groups, a MAJORITY defending Hezbullah and another attacking

The Lebanese army intelligence arrived at the scene, took the vehicles and the Hezbollah fighters. All were released the same day, and their vehicles were returned. (More on that at the end of the thread)

A local Druze can be heard: "There are more people here defending Hezbullah against their own sect than there are Hezbullah supporters in Lebanon." These people helped hide half of the resistance force in their homes, away from a small lynching mob.

Who abetted the mob into thinking Hezbullah was endangering them? It is allegedly a former Lahd Militia member (SLA), currently on the run and not yet arrested.

Unfortunately, this set of events triggered civil unrest in mixed areas, where overzealous pro-resistance Syrians and Sunnis forced out Druze merchants for a short period of time.

No truth to any Hezbullah being involved.

In return, Druze militia members from PSP (Walid Jomblat's political party) attacked a couple of passenger Vans owned by shia on a highway connecting Beirut and Beqaa.

Eventually, Druze elders obviated the situation and called for calmness and Shia-Druze unity.

Later on, statements were issued:

⬥ "The municipality of Shwayya regrets the unintended incident and confirms coexistence and the support to the army and to the resistance". "It is certain that the identity of the rocket launchers was not known, thank God that things ended here."

⬥ Sheikh Akl (photo) of the Unitarian Druze sect in Lebanon: "The response of the resistance to the Israeli aggression is natural, and we all stand by the resistance and our right to defend the land and the homeland."

It must be said that in the eyes of the Lebanese law and the Lebanese army, the actions of Hezbullah were lawful, thus their release was expected.

📈 Shortage of fuel:

After the decision to lift subsidies, the price of gasoline (20L) will increase from 76,600 ⁠LL to 336,000 ⁠LL.

The price of diesel (20L) will increase from 57,000 ⁠LL to 278,000 ⁠LL.

That's a x5 increase and more than 1/3rd of the MONTHLY minimum wage.

Shortage of fuel:

⬥ President Aoun summons the governor of the Banque du Liban after his decision to lift subsidies without any consultations with the presidency and the convenient political bodies in Lebanon.

⬥ Gebran Bassil: The unilateral decision of the governor to suddenly lift the subsidy completely contradicts the government's decision and the laws of the Parliament. This is a new coup.

⬥ Director of Al-Zahrani facilities Ziad Al-Zain: The diesel import companies own 78 million liters of diesel in their tanks as of yesterday, and none have been distributed to the markets as they await the lifting of subsidies to sell it and earn millions of dollars.

Gas companies in the Bekaa announced that they will stop filling or replacing gas bottles (for homes), and would permanently close their doors to customers until further notice.

📈 The transportion fee for one passenger from Tripoli to Beirut rose to 35,000 ⁠LL, which prompted a large number of workers not to go to work.
