A demonstration was organized on the River of Death (northern suburb of Beirut) by the Free Patriotic Movement in commemoration of the anniversary of 13 October 1990, under the motto "Our pledge to stay here".

13 October is very important for the Free Patriotic Movement (President Aoun's party). It marks the day when Aoun's army confronted and was defeated by the Syrian Army & the Lebanese Forces militia, marking the end of the civil war. Hundreds of Lebanese soldiers and civilians were killed on this day, Aoun was ousted and exiled himself to France. He was opposed to the Taif Agreement.
Gebran Bassil, head of the Free Patriotic Movement:

- We made an understanding with those [Hezbollah] who expelled ISIS from our land after some said "let the Brotherhood rule". We made an understanding with those who protected Lebanon from the enemy [Israel], whom some dealt with.

- The strong are not the ones who carry weapons and snipe people from the rooftops of buildings. The strong is not the one who claims to protect his area by firing from among his people.

The army will need to explain several things.
A slight correction: There was no militants near Mohamad nor was he himself armed according to this video.
