China: In a phone call with Syrian President Al-Assad, President Xi said that “China will continue” to support Syria's reconstruction & territorial integrity, and “firmly opposes interference by external forces”.

The Chinese president added he is “confident” that Syria will “overcome various risks and challenges, and achieve new victories”. For his part, Al-Assad thanked China, and noted that socialism with Chinese characteristics “has achieved great success”, adding that “Syria is willing to learn from China's relevant concepts and experience”. The call was made on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of PRC's seat in the UN.
