40th anniversary of the Sabra and Shatila Massacre

On this night in 1982, the Israeli army, the Lebanese Forces militia, Kataeb and other Zionist militias, under the command of Israeli Gen. Ariel Sharon and LF's head of intelligence Elie Hobeika, committed a massacre in Beirut's Sabra and Shatila.

3,000+ civilians (in an area of 20,000, mostly Palestinians) were massacred by LF/Kataeb on 16–18 September, as Israeli troops cordoned off the area, turned back fleeing residents, and fired flares to illuminate the camp at night. It happened as a revenge for the assassination of the traitor President Bashir Al-Gemayel two days earlier. It is estimated that one-fourth of the victims were Lebanese.
