⋯ In details revealed by Lebanese daily newspaper Al-Akhbar, all obstacles that led to a recent spike in tensions have been resolved, as both countries compromised with regards to the legal language used in the final draft.

⋯ The newspaper reveals that both sides agreed that Israel will be paid royalties from the Qana prospect field. However, the money will be paid from the revenue generated from the French oil company Total, not Lebanon’s share of the revenue.

US pressures Lebanon to vote against Russia at UN (The Cradle)

Lebanese PM Najib Mikati has persuaded President Michel Aoun to vote against Russia’s annexation of four Ukrainian provinces at the UN on 12 ⁠October.

According to the details revealed by Al-Akhbar, the US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea sent a written “letter of persuasion” to both Mikati and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Bouhabib. Pressure was also exerted on Lebanon's mission at the UN and the embassy in Washington.

Shea asked the Lebanese officials to “respect the past events [history] and not take a stance that contradicts them”.
